    Honestly?....
Not to this extent and I bet he bounces back to typical Crawford numbers next year. I think the expectations for him were higher than what he is capable of, which is a big reason why he was paid what he was. However I think the expectations is that he would have put up similar numbers to the guy playing next to him (Ellsbury) and I don't believe he is capable of that. I think they were expecting him to develop into a 20-25-30 HR a year guy and hit at the top of that lineup and unless things change in a hurry, it's not going to happen.

Also, 18 SB's??? Hitting at the bottom of that lineup he should be running damn near every time he's on base. I know he's wasn't healthy for a chunk of the season, but between him and Ellsbury and Pedroia, those guys should have 100+ SB's between them.

I still think he'll be fine. He had a rough year to be sure, but I don't think he's suddenly garbage or anything and I still really like him as a player.

Hopefully the fans don't completely turn on him after the way this season (and that last play) went.

Not true , that was the market value at the time. Sometimes a FA get overpaid because of the market.

Crawford will hopefully be back to his normal self next season. I just don't think he was ready for the big stage in Boston. Same goes for Gonzalez and Lackey.

He went to one of the most patient, disciplined lineups in the league, and managed to have one of the most undisciplined seasons of his career (if not the most).

Which is what I consider to be the most surprising result of his season.

I want to think he pressured himself to perform. Once he got down so low, he tried to climb out. Patience runs thin when you're feeling pressured to perform to your contract.

Hopefully, for him, zeros to start the next year will refresh his mind.

Correction, he tried to swing his way out.

If he has another slow start next season he's going to be considered a big bust in Boston almost regardless of how he performs the rest of his tenure there. It's like how some guys who are considered good steady players end up going to the Yankees and completely self destructing due to under performing and the fans turning on em.

Oh, agreed completely. My only point was that I'm not down on him as a player and simply hope that fans give him a chance next year.

He'll likely never live up to expectations that people have due to his contract and the hype, but give me his historical production and I'm a happy dude (well, in terms of him...unless he learns how to pitch, we'll have bigger concerns...lol).

Hard to label him a bust when he has 6 years left, but this season was a defenitely a bust. His was just horrible, there's no way around it. Also, what was up with him last night? He took that last play like it was no big deal, just tossed the ball into home in slow motion. I couldn't believe how non nonchalant he was on that play.

But I'd still take him every time over Jayson Werth
