Don't know him personally, but have seen him pitch live before and it was awesome.

        Totally forgot about this one:

My Dad talked Phillies baseball with Terry Francona back when he was manager of the Phillies one time. Francona's kids went to my school, and I knew one of his daughters. Another one of his daughters was a BEAST at softball

Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb

I've had way, way too many run-ins. I'll just quote an old post of mine so you could read a few of them:

As for anyone else, I was behind Mandy Moore in line of the now torn down Stealth roller coaster at Great America and we talked for a couple of moments. I also met Michael Keaton in San Jose before he was appearing for some show there, can't remember what (it was a few years back).

Otherwise I've met far too many athletes to talk about. As for other un-arranged meets, Eric Byrnes bought me dinner once at a Mexican restaurant, but that's for another day. I also met F.P. Santangello (former San Francisco Giant) at my local mall. He was with his wife and kids when my friend first noticed who it was because he saw the ugly Kirk Rueter and his not as ugly wife talking. As they exited, Santangello went into Mr. Rags by himself and I just asked for his autograph on a piece of paper.

Oh, and I never really "met" him, but I played against Steve Finley in my adult league. As far as interaction, I doubled off of him and high-fived him at the end of the game.

EDIT: Oh and no doy, of course I also know Tony Gwynn. He was my baseball coach for a couple weeks before I was scrapped from the SDSU team, and I've just plain had talks with him outside of playing for him as well. He's a great guy when his team is doing well.
Obviously this post was about celebrities in general and not just baseball players, but I'm not sure how I left out Tom Brady (again, not thread-affiliated) and Willie McGee. I met McGee in Clovis, California when my sister had a softball tournament there one night in a hotel. His daughter's school was in some big track meet that was going to take place down there, so I met him in the lobby and he decided to throw out some opposite field hitting pointers to me (none of which I remember and all of which probably don't pertain to today's game anyway).

And now there's a Cardinals third baseman, Daniel Descalso, who I played with back in my Babe Ruth league. I was 13 years old when he was 15, he was our shortstop when I was playing out in right field. We won the championship that year. I wouldn't go as far to say that I knew he'd be destined to play pro ball in the future, but he was a pretty good hitter then and it looks like he never really slowed up. We called him Danny back then lol.

The Byrnes story is still my favorite.

Former MLBer and Mariner/Expos P Trey Moore. He had a great college career at Texas A&M and spent 3-4 seasons in the majors and also a few years making big bucks over in Japan. Been over to his family's house more than a few times, and on one occasion I got to catch a fastball from him in the backyard. He could throw 95 and I was scared to death waiting for the ball. I think if he hadn't thrown it perfectly where I had my glove, I would have missed it and probably been killed lol.

Ohh....and his claim to fame was giving up 2 of Mark McGwire's HR's in his record-setting season.
