Re: Does Aaron get the nod over A-Rod?
Easily one of the most ignorant things I've ever read... Anywhere... In my entire life...
I'm just embarrassed to even be human at this point...
Maybe you're just misinformed here... Because I can't imagine someone being so astonishingly moronic... So let me ask you...
How many death threats has A-Rod received compared to Aaron?
I'm still proud to be human.Comment

Re: Does Aaron get the nod over A-Rod?
First of all I never said that It was a worse kind of pressure or anything close to it... I was just replying to the guy that reply that Arod haven't face that kind of pressure when they are obviously different kinds of pressure.
Alex may not have receive death threats (as far as I'm aware of) and segregation, and Aaron may not have the NY media of the present or the biggest contract in the MLB... But there is something I'm sure of, no one knows for sure how pressure affects each player individually and how are they able to adjust/forget/block the pressure when they at the plate.
I did said I thought Hank is jealous, and I am going to stick with it. Arod is consider more of a "celebrity" in this time and age, making tons of money, while being perceive as arrogant and cocky, heck! If I was Aaron I would probably feel the same way.
There's no doubt Aaron is one of the best of all times! I just thought it was inappropriate for Aaron to be calling out on specific players and staying he likes to stay out of the media while talking to the media about one of the most hated players in the MLB.
understand there's a lot of Arod and Yankees hate, and any giving props to a Yankee player would probably make me look like a homer, which is not the case, first I root for Baseball then I root for the yankees.Last edited by berenjena; 03-21-2011, 04:48 PM.Comment

Re: Does Aaron get the nod over A-Rod?
I understand what you are saying and if you think about it, like you said, they played it two totally different era's. It's not just the death threats that Aaron endured at the end of his career. Please consider the years Aaron grew up and played through and all the negativity he endured while playing baseball in that era. This isn't even debatable, either.
Which is fine because, if I break past the apples to oranges comparison, some of what Rodriguez has to deal with is self inflicted and/or a byproduct of Skip Bayless power fantasies.Comment

Aaron has no reason to be jealous at all. He is also considered to be one of the best players overall in baseball, if not the best, IMO. You can't deny Aaron was considered a celebrity, either. And his was just as much hatred celebrity as A-Rods, if still under different circumstances.
Bottom line, both are/were great players in professional baseball.Last edited by roadman; 03-21-2011, 08:34 PM.Comment

Re: Does Aaron get the nod over A-Rod?
Hammer vs A-Rod career value debate aside, I think we can all agree that Aaron is wrong in his statement. At no point would a modern-day Aaron be offered A-Rod money. Manny Ramirez is a better comparison. A modern-day Mays or Mantle, however...Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Does Aaron get the nod over A-Rod?
Aarons was on Letterman and they played a vid where I believe he hit a homerun (I didn't see it all) and when he was running around the bases, fans were running beside him and patting him on the back and such. He could have been killed dead if that was the right person. It just shocked me. They were also talking about how he was a 170-180 slugger. That's pretty impressive.Comment

Re: Does Aaron get the nod over A-Rod?
True. I believe the whole discussion is moot due to the fact that Mays would be/should be higher paid than Aaron, and Mantle would be the highest paid player ever, in today's market (not necessarily the best, but considering the fact that he was the face of the Yankees and one of the best players of his era, it's no argument).Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment
