No, in Japan when one of our players goes to play in the Japanese League they are not considered rookies,
unless they still hold rookie status here, Bonds would not be a rookie over there just like Matsui,Nomo,Ichiro or Sasaki should not be or have been considered rookies,
take Kaz Sasaki, the all time Saves leader in Japan comes here and is a rookie, he should have been insulted, the Saves are what got him here, and then he's just another rookie,
it's nonsense, let the vets from other leagues be considrerd vets here, and let an actual rookie win the award.

I also agree. While Japanese baseball is probably the equivalent of AAA, they are still veteran players when they get here. They've been under the spotlight and played in big games.

Rookie of the year should only be able togo to players who like 25 and under or something. That's ridiculos ringers like Ichiro and Matsui come over and get ROY when their 28+.

There shouldn't be an age limit of any kind.

I didn't hear much about Ichiro's ROY. Writers didn't write much about it, and some voiced their opinions, but after he won it, it all quiet down. Why didn't you change it then?!

Why do you take the guys Japanese experience into consideration? JBL was said to be somewhere around AAA and MLB. There's a learning curve, and nothing is guaranteed in this league.

This is the guy's FIRST year in MLB, so therefore he's a ROOKIE.

How about this, the ROY was named after Jackie Robinson. The guy came from another PRO league, Negro Leagues. The first five of six players who won the ROY, were from another PRO league.

Our stats and records indicate that this is Matsui's first year in the MLB league. Therefore he's as much elligible as another player from the Minor Leagues. Why should we count the player's experience from another country, when we even don't count their stats or records. All stats and records are from the MLB.
And another thing, we play the "World Series", even though all the elligible teams come from MLB. We don't play other countries'/Leagues' players/teams.

" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "
                              - Lavar Arrington on his new Redskins teammate Sean Taylor.
