Re: 3/31 - 4/10 Game Discussion Thread
Just got home from the Indians/Red Sox game and all I have to say is WOW!
The only run came on a suicide squeeze during an inning where the Indians had no hits.
I have also never seen a game end on a play like the one today. Crazy!
I'm going to remember this one for a long time...Comment

But seriously, they have looked terrible this series. I hope its just because they haven't been home in a month.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I saw the highlights of that Red Sox game....WOW!
Trivia: This is the first time since 1945 that the Red Sox have started the season 0-6. That '45 team didn't have Williams, Doerr, Pesky and Dom Dimaggio as they were all in the service at that time.
Anyways.....
What a tough way to lose for the Jays today. Ricky Romero had EVERYTHING going for him but his indecision in the 8th to throw the runner at 3rd was the game changer. He ended up turning around and throwing to 1st to get the easy out. Jason Frasor came in and crapped the bed. Not in a spectacular fashion mind you, but in a slow "oh I know what's going to happen here" way.
At least Romero didn't get tagged with the L.
So a couple things about the Jays so far:
- I really like John Farrell's "I will do whatever it takes to win a ballgame" style of managing though i'm not fully enamored with his use of the pitchers so far. He's managing the game a lot like an old school NL manager would.
- Teams are going to have to think twice before running on Travis Snider. He's really improved his footwork in the field which has led to him loading up his throws a lot better. The knock against him was that he didn't have a very strong arm but that seems to have changed what with him being very dedicated to his fielding these days.
- JP Arencibia has become a master at blocking the plate on balls in the dirt though he didn't have much of a chance on Frasor's strikeout pitch today which hit his ankle I believe and skipped out of the way which led to Oakland's tying run.
Also of note, Yunel Escobar has a mild concussion but it doesn't look like he's going to go on the newfangled 7 day DL as he seems to be medically clear to play sooner than later. He won't play the Angels series but will most likely play in Seattle. Jose Bautista will also be back for the road trip after the birth of his newborn baby girl.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
