But Vlad's extremely uncomfortable with the media spotlight, which is why he likes Montreal. I think other teams can offer him similar $$ to the Yankees and he'd rather go there. His agent was even quoted as saying he'd like to go somewhere mid-market with welcoming/easy-going fans. Definitely doesn't sound like New York, but does that fit Baltimore?

Well, Batista's counted as part of the cuts up there, and I'd imagine it'd take at least $3 million to re-sign him? But no question they'll definitely be better, but good enough to overtake the Yankees/Red Sox? Or even the Blue Jays, who could be really good with more pitching?

yeah but wouldn't he like a chance for a ring i mean if they get all these defensive players who will pitch even if they get ponson back its like geting 1 win in every 5 games they would be the would be like 31 wins plus other pitchers geting a few wins i say they could only get about 75 wins if this all happens but the yanks and red soxs get about 90 every year so they will still be behind inless they get gurrero and instead of more defensive players they could pick up some pitchers and then maybe they might have a chance at 85 wins

The Rays can win the East if they only face the Jays

Actually i've heard that Lou Piniella thinks the Rays can challenge for the WildCard next year. I don't know how realistic that is but hey good for him for thinking that.

In response to the O's, remember the Mets tried to buy a playoff spot and it did them no good!!! Money isn't everything.

If the O's can upgrade by signing a Tejeda or a Vazquez then good for them, but they should learn from the past and not spend all there money on big name free agents, after all thats what got them in this to start with, they should build up there system so they can be competive for more then a couple of years.
