If the O's can upgrade by signing a Tejeda or a Vazquez then good for them, but they should learn from the past and not spend all there money on big name free agents, after all thats what got them in this to start with, they should build up there system so they can be competive for more then a couple of years.

They have been building up over the past few seasons. Roberts/Hariston/Gibbons/Matos/Bigbie provide a solid, young backbone for the team. Ainsworth and Moss should help the rotation next year, and their minor leagues are starting to get stocked w/ arms. The O's just need a real 4th hitter (Conine was in that role this year, boy, will I miss him, but we need to look towards the future.).

What got them where they are today were poor choices in signing free agents (ex. 4 yr., $28 million to Segui..ughhh ), which made Angelos a little gun shy. The Mets did the same thing the Orioles did a few years ago ($17 million to Mo Vaughn??? ). Beattie and Flanny are already showing restraint in this area (Pudge), but are not afraid to spend when necessary (Loewen).

Rays have a solid, fast and very young outfield...they will be good in the upcoming years IF they can get some pitching!
