Pineda very economical with his pitch count, less than 80 through 6. Could he go the distance? Probably not, being they probably have him on a strict pitch count being as young and prized as he is.

Tonight showed why losing Andrew Cashner is a big blow for the Cubs.

In my opinion, Cashner is the best young pitcher in the game, well other than that kid from Texas I saw today.

Also Samardzija blows, and Corey Patterson hit a HR yesterday, that better have been mentioned yesterday dammit!

You're forgetting about one, Michael Pineda, best pitching prospect in baseball bar none. He looks amazing tonight. And also pitched great in Texas. Most telling stat for him tonight, 56 strikes, 21 balls, and 21 of 25 first pitch strikes.

Well, if we are talking about great pitchers out of Texas, the best right now would be Kershaw. Actually, I think he is the best in the league. Not this pinata guy.

I felt the same way about Mark Prior.

I'm sorry did you just say Kershaw was the best pitcher in the league outright??

I have to go with this guy too, if we're talking about young pitchers. Cashner isn't even close to being the best young pitcher in the league.

Yep, tonight is a Pineda love fest.

He's dominating the Jays... 7 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 K... 88 pitches, 65 for strikes. Fastest pitch clocked at 99 MPH. His secondary offerings are pretty damn good, too.

The kid is going to be pretty special.

I think I should have added in my very homerish(I'm making it a word) opinion

I think his point was more that Pineda isn't. That and there were six pitchers ranked higher than him on Baseball America's Top 100.

Will Billingsley ever figure it out?

Kershaw is sick... No arguments here.
