    Sheesh.
It was a crazy 9th yet again. Sanchez started out dominate and struck out Towles with a ridiculous slider. But then he gave up a few hits and started to unravel.

He has really good stuff, and I think he has the makeup to be a good closer. But he's still a rookie and will have the typical growing pains.

Despite what I saw tonight I still think he's their best closer option, although I would like to see Motte get some chances as well. He has pitched pretty well lately.

LOL...apparently NESN borrowed Rick Dempsey for their broadcast last night. Here are some of the quotes from SOSH:

"Ick. First time hearing Dempsey talk. So far he's got a voice perfect for silent film."

"This is the PERFECT game to test out MLB.tv's "park only" sound option. "

"Ack. What is this voice? It's not Kermit....I'm not sure. "

"Do you think MASN did it on purpose to get us to switch over? Whew, he's on something, Red Bulls and candy bars! "

"Dempsey sounds like a desperate salesman trying to sell you new carpeting... "

      Now you feel our pain

April stats are always fun, but here's an interesting one. Here's three different NL first basemen:

        AVG/OBP/SLG
        A: .326/.415/.565
        B: .379/.509/.655
        C: .345/.424/.595

Of course A is Prince Fielder and B is Joey Votto, but what about C? Ike Davis. He's walking like a mad man, spraying line drives all over the field when he makes contact, and knocking a couple dingers out of the park, as well. Good thing he's on my fantasy team.
        NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
        NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
        MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
        NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)
NCAA: Purdue Boilermakers (FB: 1-11, BB: 15-12), Michigan Wolverines (FB: 7-6, BB: 19-7, H: 15-10-3)

I hope his nephew is a lot better (Gregg Zaun) He'll be making his radio debut on the 7th IIRC. He'll be doing 20 or so games on the radio while Alan Ashby (who's AWESOME!) fills in for Buck Martinez on the TV side.

The Pirates defense is HORRIBLE. I don't understand how professionals can do so poorly at the fundamentals. It's like you put on a Pirates uniform and go brain dead in the field.

            This sequence just happened:

            1) Basehit for Fontenot
            2) Whiteside hits a foul pop up, but Overbay drops it.
            3) Whiteside is hit with pitch.
            4) Vogelsong attempts to sacrifice the runners over and Overbay decides to try for the lead runner...everyone is safe.
            5) Double by Rowand scores 2.
            6) Fly out scores no one.
            7) Intentional walk to load them up and then the get Panda to ground into a 6-4 FC.
            8) Panda takes off to try and steal 2nd with the runner at 3rd. Doumit throws the ball into CF. The 2B covering makes a very poor attempt to stop the ball, the SS never even really moved to back up the throw.

I know the Pirates don't have top level talent, but how can they ever expect to turn the corner doing stupid/lazy stuff like this?

I'd argue they aren't professionals if they play for Pittsburgh (or KC for that matter).

Whoa Adam Lind is just crushing the ball in Texas. He just hit a 2 run HR. Hopefully his bat stays hot when they go to NY tomorrow.

Jeez....Scary moment just now in Arlington as Jose Bautista got hit on the right wrist by a pitch. Luckily it looks like it just stung him as he still has movement in his fingers and such and is still in the game.

Pineda continues to boulder through MLB lineups.

...and BJ Upton...thank you for your production today Boss Junior.

The Rays, with their fifth consecutive series win are now 12-3 in their last 15 games.

During that span they have outscored their opponents 82-45 while batting just a hair under .300 as a team.

I, for one, cannot wait for Longoria to be back in the lineup next week.
