    Re: 2011 MLB Draft

Question for anyone here who follows college players.

I see the Cardinals signed Garrett Wittels today after he went undrafted, does he have any upside in regards to pro baseball? All I know about him was the fact he almost broke the NCAA hit streak record and then had the rape accusation in the offseason, the charges were dropped.

Basically just wondering if he went undrafted due to those problems, or if he would have been undrafted regardless, if he likely would have been drafted without the legal issues how high might he have gone?
    Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
    NFL- Cleveland Browns
    MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
    NBA- Boston Celtics
    NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Signing deadline, it'll be interesting to see which kids decide to pass up on the money.

I'm glad they got Austin Hedges. Out of those four he was the one I wanted the Padres to get the most. Too bad they couldn't get Brett Austin done, but the Padres have two other young catchers (Daal and someone else they signed this year as a IFA). Joe Ross and Michael Kelly can definitely help out, but this is what I wanted to see. This is exactly what the Padres need to do and hopefully they can contribute like Cory Spangenberg, Matt Andriese, and Kevin Quackenbush.

Pirates signed OF Josh Bell, he got 5M. Thought for sure he was going to Texas but $$ talks.

Yep, teams are forking over the money this year. Easily a great draft for the Pirates.

Nats lock up their top four picks. Love that for them.

                    Anthony Rendon - 3B
                    Alex Meyer - LHP
                    Matt Purke - LHP
                    Brian Goodwin - CF

Four Boras clients that other teams were scared of. If they each pan out could be huge to plug in with Strasburg/Zimmerman(s)/Harper/Espinosa.

^ If Purke is healthy, could be a steal for Nats.

Disappointed that Rox didn't sign Peter O'Brien. We did sign Tyler Anderson.

A lot of people have been saying (Keith Law among others) that Bundy was one of the few guys they wouldn't mind giving an ML contract to. I haven't seen too much video of him, but apparently his stuff is very advanced. Combine that with his incredible-for-his-age work ethic and he could very well hit Baltimore by 2013*

*Doubtful however, because the Orioles seem to screw up every major prospect that comes through the system
