I guess no one noticed the "longer win streaks" in my comment... lets see 8.0 games out of first prior to this Braves series and 5.5 games out of the Wild Card... obviously the Phillies and Braves will need to struggle but more importantly the Mets need to string wins together (something similar to what the Rockies did in 2007).

And plays like the one Beltran just made on that deep fly by Chipper Jones is what leads to those "longer win streaks"

I wasn't laughing at you. I like how the Mets are playing this year. No, they don't have the sexy names or the pitching depth of the Braves/Phils/Marlins, but they are scrappy and Reyes is driving that offense. I'm glad you have hope for them!

The entire Marlins team is trying to go into a slump it's ridiculous, Josh Johnson needs to comeback fast to help out the rotation and bullpen.

Can't wait to go from 2nd in the NL East to 5th

I wasn't laughing at you. I like how the Mets are playing this year. No, they don't have the sexy names or the pitching depth of the Braves/Phils/Marlins, but they are scrappy and Reyes is driving that offense. I'm glad you have hope for them!

I appreciate that... its just been a struggle since losing to the Cards in the NLCS back in 2006 and then the two collapses (for lack of a better word) in 2007 and 2008 weren't pretty... they tried to continue to hit the Hot Stove with contending in their plans adding K-Rod in 2009 and Bay last year but it just hasn't come together...now we are changing the culture. One good thing about the struggling is that it got rid of the bandwagon.

I'm just hoping we can get some quality wins and a nice string of 4-5 game winning streaks while keeping losing streaks to a minimum and then we need to get David Wright back (and hitting) and my ultimate dream/wish for the season is for Johan Santana to join Dillon Gee, Jon Neise, Mike Pelfrey and either Chris Capuano or R.A. Dickey in the rotation.

Stranding 13 runners isn't going to cut it even though Tejada was a victim of an extended strike zone on that pitch... can't fall behind 0-2 and let something close enough to plate go by without swinging

I forgot his nickname was Big Game James too. But that probably had alot to do with him being a mediocre at best James the last couple of years.

Apparently, the biggest requirement for a "Big Game" nickname, is that your name rhymes with the word game.

Though to be fair, he has been very good this year.

Just trying to stay positive... cause I've seen worse from the Mets... I don't recall following the Mets in 86 and I think the first baseball game I saw was in 87 in NY but it was a National Televised game if I'm not mistaken so the Yanks nor Mets were involved... then in 88 me and my grandfather would watch the Mets (he eventually got pissed at the Mets over the years and went full on Yankees leaving me to fend for myself)...my mom kept forcing me to cut the NLCS games off against the Dodgers because they started late when the Mets were in LA and when they lost that series I was heartbroken...then the 90s hit... I'm just glad I got to enjoy 1999, 2000 and 2006 to a certain extent... just hoping that we finally get the ship righted so my ex-roommate can stop through that Phillies World Series title in my face

and as I say that K-Rod gets his 19th consecutive save and we hold on for the one run victory 4-3 over the Atlanta Braves... Byrdak came up huge with those two strikeouts and Jose Reyes needs to be the NL starter at SS... plus it was a win over Jurrgens... I need to check on the pitching matchups for the rest of this series... crossing my fingers that we leave Atlanta 1 game over .500... right now we are 1 under... looks like I'm missing a good one since I work tomorrow night... It's funny because more often than not you don't even have a frame of reference as to what you chime in about, such as this time. I have seen you do this multiple times on this forum only to retract your statement after someone corrects and/or enlightens you.

Well, looks like Johnson was just transferred to the 60 day DL so he won't be back until after the all star break. Unfortunate for the Marlins.
