Jered Weaver as of today. Even before he got ejected, he dropped an F-bomb at Ordonez for simply doing his job (hitting a homer), he's a cocky SOB, and I couldn't be happier that Guillen starred him down as he trotted around the bases.

Seeing that you're a Tigers fan, and clearly upset with Weaver, what's your take on Verlander whining and telling that guy he'd throw at him because he couldn't make a routine play on a bunt to lose his no hitter. Seemed a little whiney to me, and I dont have a dog in the fight.

Seeing that you're a Tigers fan, and clearly upset with Weaver, what's your take on Verlander whining and telling that guy he'd throw at him because he couldn't make a routine play on a bunt to lose his no hitter. Seemed a little whiney to me, and I dont have a dog in the fight.

Umm he didn't lose the no hitter, it was an error. And there is big difference between Verlander being upset by a bunt in the 8th during of a no hitter and Weaver barking at Ordonez for no reason after home run. Not to mention notice how Verlander told Aybar he would drill him in the ribs, not the same as coming up towards a guy's head.

Basically Verlander and the Tigers were probably more upset by the timing of the bunt since it came after the heated top of inning. They probably perceived it as something the Angels and Aybar did just to piss them off, which is what I thought as well. The bunt was viable in that situation, but I can see why Verlander did not like the timing, considering what transpired in the top of the inning.

Nobody said they were, but the bottom line is that Weaver got the fireworks started in this game. If I read lips correctly he was calling Ordonez a mother-blanker when he was rounding the bases. Ordonez did jack to deserve that reaction. Not sure what reaction Weaver was expecting from the Tigers, when your calling a hitter that for no reason.

Verlander had a reason to be upset, Weaver did not when he reacted to Ordonez's home run the way he did. Like I said I wouldn't doubt that part of the reason Aybar laid down that bunt, in addition to trying to get on base, was to piss of the Tigers and I guarantee JV was thinking the same thing. There were other factors, besides the bunt attempt itself, that contributed to JV reacting the way he did. The game was already a hostile situation at that point.

Guillen was super bitchmade, Weaver should have thrown at the body, not at the head.

The bunt was fine. It's not like it was a 9-0 game and it was being spiteful. Game was 3-0, and both teams are in the playoff hunt.

Pretty sure that out happened after he hit his home run. He hit his hr in his second AB, and I remember that interaction between the two occurring in Ordonez's third AB.

Adding to the bunt thing Verlander's quote after the game indicates he was more upset because he thought Aybar did it partly in response to the top half in the inning. I can understand him having that line of thinking. Not to mention who knows if JV will actually follow through next time he faces Aybar. His reaction happened in the heat of moment, to be honest I doubt he follows through next time he sees Aybar.

Really it doesn't matter? Ordonez only was talking crap after his third AB, in response to Weaver calling him a mother-blanker his previous AB and telling him to run faster. Not sure if you realize it, but most batters would have words for the pitcher if that occurred in their previous AB.

My point still stands Weaver got the fireworks/hostility started in this game, essentially for no reason whatsoever. With the way Weaver behaved in today's game, it is perfectly reasonable for Tiger fans to not like the guy from here on out. That doesn't mean both teams don't have some fault, for the way things went down though. Guillen should not have posed like he did, but Weaver defiantly crossed the line by coming up around the head on Avila.

Basically Jose Valverde's quote sums this whole thing up though "That was stupid -- it was all stupid. Everybody was stupid. That was unprofessional on both sides."

It was dumb for him to say that afterwards. Now it just carries more tension for when they play again (even though I don't think they play again this season)
