No, in fact Worley has been the Phillies hottest pitcher in the last month or so which means his value is at an all time high. He is going to come crashing down to earth at some point, and its better to trade him for a good asset so the inevitable crash Happ-ens on another team

        See what I did there?

Yeah, I guess, but wouldn't you rather have him than Kendrick as our future 4? As I mentioned, we don't need to trade for anyone if we're the best team in baseball. We should just keep riding Worley's success.

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread

The Blue Jays are close to a deal for Edwin Jackson that would send Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen to the Jays for Jason Frasor and a prospect:

10:44am: Money appears to be the only holdup in a trade that would send Jackson to the Cardinals and Rasmus …

As the writers from the site mention, it doesn't make sense that Toronto is renting Jackson and taking on Teahen's contract unless the prospect is high quality or AA is flipping Jackson off to a contender (Cards??). They also note that the White Sox could bring Frasor back next year and that they could be just shedding payroll.
This could be the trade(s) that makes this deadline interesting if, say, Jackson goes to the Cards in a Colby Rasmus deal.

He has no proven track record of success. That's what JNES is referring to. Move him for someone who has proven to be succesful over an extended period of time, not just 15 starts.

I would like to see Philly go after James Shields and BJ Upton.

If we did trade him, who takes his spot?
Who could we even get for him if he "hasn't proven to be successful over an extended period of time"? Won't other teams know that he'll cool off like you guys do? No one will bite because they know that he'll cool off and we can't package him either because the Phillies aren't interested in trading any of their other top prospects.
BTW, I'd like to see them get Upton too, and Shields is off the market.

Another tweet by "Scott Boras's shill":

The Astros want a "very top pitching prospect" for Pence, and the Phillies are "trying hard".

When he comes back down to earth, he won't be much better than Kendrick. He is a back of the rotation guy who is pitching like an ace. Ride Worley's success for how long? Until he regresses?

If we can get a Pence or Upton for Worley an prospects that would be a steal

The deal is close, but not done, says Joel Sherman of the New York Post , because money exchange requires approval and the Jays are trying to spin Jackson to another team.

Deal could potentially be huge for Jays. AA has been on fire lately. They are looking good for the future.

Alejandro de Aza got called up from AAA Charlotte, so the White Sox have 26 guys on their roster. Apparently this deal needs to get done by 2:10 PM EST.

Hmm.. I've been hearing alot of stuff on the trade, here's what it's looking like if the Jays flip Jackson to STL:

White Sox get: Frasor, prospect from Jays?
                            Blue Jays get: Teahen, Rasmus
Cardinals get: ? (E.Jackson, reliever?, prospects from Jays, Chicago?)

Mets deal with Rangers fell through apparently.

Man this whole "having a competent GM" thing is pretty cool

e: Jackson part official per http://twitter.com/#!/BNightengale/s...42157131792384

Does that mean the flip for Rasmus is done too?
