Probably due to the amount of cash the Mets are including.

The Rays don't have a deal in place for B.J. Upton:

I've heard he might not be in the lineup because the Rays want to give other guys time.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Upton told teammates he has some tightness in his quad:

BTW, the Phillies think they can get Upton much cheaper than Pence:

End of the Comcast broadcast tonight, announcers were talking that SF will release Burrell to make room for Beltran.

            Update from Cincinnati-
As it turns out, San Francisco may have found out that the Reds will consider trading Ramon Hernandez for a "good" pitcher. I'm not sure what type of "good" pitcher that could mean, but it's something to look out for.

I thought the Reds might become active. They need to acquire someone to flip to the Cards for Corey Patterson.

Ch. 12 news, Cincinnati, live update.

I really hope this isn't true.

Report says the Reds have offered Aroldis Chapman, Devin Mesoraco, and Edinson Volquez to the Rockies in exchange for Ubaldo Jiminez.

                SCREW that.

And Jim Hendry looks to be on the board as Kosuke Fukudome to Indians is all but a done deal. Sounds like 2 prospects in return

Tyler Colvin is already in Milwaukee to take Fuk's roster spot.

Was shocked to hear that anyone wanted Fukudome. Good riddance to him.

Now he'll probably go to Cleveland and hit 30 HRs lmao

to be fair, guys with as good of OBP as Fukudome are pretty rare. If he can get on base at a slightly higher clip, that allows everyone to move down a peg in the lineup and gives Asdrubal and Hafner a chance to hit with someone on the bases.

Plus, it gets one of our ****ty *** outfielders out of the lineup.

                              True.

Good OBP, and always has pretty good at bats BUT, virtually no power and no speed on the base paths.

Good defender though and it's a pretty low risk trade for Cleveland plus we are eating 5 mil of the salary. I'm just glad I don't have to see him in a Cubs uni anymore. One of the worst contracts in the Hendry era. The fact that we gave him almost 50 million dollars is absolutely ludicrous.

The prospects the Indians are giving up are "one upper level, one lower level":
