Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
He had some great production but admittedly it tailed off so AA struck while the iron was hot.
As for Gose, the organization is putting out the idea that he'll be a speedy leadoff hitter type that steals 40-50 bases a year. I agree Rasmus should still be here in Toronto even after Gose arrives as i'm sure he'll be converted to one of the corner outfield positions.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
To get Rasmus without giving up a Top 5 Prospect or a Top 5 Player on the major league roster... wow.
I'm a huge fan of the Rasmus trade. An all-around mid 20's talent like Rasmus is rarely available in a trade.
I'm going to miss Scrabble. He should have started for the Jays over Reyes.
On the BS Report Podcast, Keith Law said the Jays have the 2nd best farm system in baseball. I follow the minor leagues and the Jays are stacked with prospects.
I'm looking forward to going to the game this Sunday (hopefully Rasmus and Lawrie are in the lineup).Comment

Corey Patterson was "available" and the Reds didn't reacquire him? I'm as shocked as Dusty must be.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
- Patterson is a complete waste of a roster spot. He's the worst "speedy" base runner I've ever seen in my life. Besides not drawing walks, he's also horrible in the OF. Even though he's a bench player, he has made 2 horrible plays in the field in the past 10 days. Trust me, you will hate Patterson.
- Rzepczynski is the player I'm going to miss the most. Most Jays fans feel like he should be a starter. He gets lots of groundballs. He's mostly a fastball and slider guy. His change up is a work in progress so he rarely throws it.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
The Braves took Wil Nieves off us today for cash. I would hope for their fan's sake it's just for minor league depth.
Unless they like the idea of a .140 hitter creating a black hole of despair in their lineup.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

They're gonna rely on David Ross alot, and they recalled Boscan, so Nieves will probably just be minor league depth.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
The Brewers got "cash" in return for Nieves.
That cash? $1.00.
I'm not joking.
Brewers beat reporter Tom Haudricourt:
#Brewers GM Doug Melvin said he got $1 from Braves for Wil Nieves. I'll let you folks decide if Atlanta overpaid. (also picked up salary).Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn
