Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread

Abreu has fallen off the planet as a prospect.

Where is this "upper" level prospect they speak of?

    Smith?...

How much was Fuko making?...I don't get the move unless he had a large salary.
Was he that bad in the clubhouse?

Smith is in triple a. Don't think they meant talent wise.

I know the Indians are only paying Fukudome 775K for the rest of the year.

Cubs must have REALLY wanted to get rid of him...for some reason.

I don't think he was a bad guy in the Clubhouse, just didn't live up to his contract obviously. and just wanted to get rid of him altogether and just move on.

Good Leadoff hitter(This Year) & and pretty good defensive player as well.

I think they just wanted to give Colvin some regular playing time.

he had a big contract, that was the main reason behind the move. Not sure where the "Clubhouse Cancer," thing comes from.

Dont think that is even remotely close to an accurate description of him in the clubhouse.

Trade deadline might get even more interesting:

"The Padres are "getting closer" to a major bullpen deal, and talks "could end quickly."

San Diego is working on potential deals involving closer Heath Bell, setup man Mike Adams and outfielder Ryan Ludwick.

Ludwick's out of the lineup, a trade could go down:

I hope the Phils' are getting Bell or Adams!

Ludwick's out of the lineup but I keep getting the hopeless feeling that the Padres are only going to trade either Heath Bell or Mike Adams, and one plus Ludwick will end up staying.

Ideally, they should trade all three players plus if they can get anything decent for Aaron Harang, do it. They've haven't put their money where their mouth is these past two weeks, talking about how they want to make early deals and such.

Why don't the Phils go after both Ludwick & Bell/Adams? Get their reliever and the OF'er they're looking for, right?

Pence is clearly better statistically than Mayberry Jr., but I just don't believe he'll "fit" in with the Philly clubhouse and crowd. Can't put my finger on it. But I just don't think there'll be a chemistry.

I'd rather have Mayberry put up decent numbers than give up top prospects like Cosart (who will take over for Halladay when he retires, etc.) or Singleton for Pence. We're already a winning team and if Mayberry Jr./Lidge put up numbers at their respective positions, IMO we don't even need anyone else. I know I'm one of a few in that opinion.
