            Game over. Advantage Braves.

                  Re: Cubs vs. Braves

I hate to say it, but the time is drawing near where we Cub fans have to say, "Wait till next year."

There is not a single clutch hitter in the Cubs lineup. The Braves have eight. I thought we had a shot today, even if Clement didn't pitch well, cuz I thought the Cubs would score some runs FINALLY.

But alas, my hopes have been dashed again. This offense is pathetic, and that is being nice.

With Wood on the mound tomorrow, we have a shot, but only if he throws a shutout. It is ugly to watch this Cub team on offense. Wood MUST be on top of his game, or the Cubs will not win. If the Cubs have to play from behind at all tomorrow, they will start to swing at EVERY first pitch (instead of every other first pitch) and will hit right into a multitude of one-two-three innings. Once this offense, which is already sickly at producing runs, starts to press, it is over.

This scenario just does not instill much confidence in me. I'll hope for the best. I just think the Braves will eek out a victory tomorrow

That being said, Wood does give us a chance. So with fingers crossed ... Go Cubs!!

Smoltz doesn't look too good. IF he's hurt, that's a big blow to the Braves....
