So where did the big 3 come from? Was it a stroke of luck that Mulder/Zito/Hudson appeared on the A's? From what I understand, Mulder was a no-brainer, a 1st round pick and college pitcher just about everyone wanted... but Zito and Hudson. Zito had great stats in College, which got Beane's attention, but other teams didn't want him because of his fastball-- what does it top out at 88mph. What Beane does is put a premium on statistics, while other teams put a premium on tools... I'm sorry, Beane has EVERYTHING to do with Zito. Hudson I'll admit I don't know a lot about his past, but from the looks of his body type I'd say he wasn't the most impressive guy to most scouts. It's not surprising to me that he's on the A's.

Beane's game isn't all about slow, bad fielders taking pitches... It's about finding value where other teams aren't looking, and about exploiting the f'd up values of other teams... (for example, the SV statistic)...

He also made that deal for Keith Foulke. I could not even begin to imagine what the A's season would have been like if we still had Koch as closer.

            Re: The A\'s are terrible

I think Oakland will be fine next year.

This season might have been their last chance at a WS ring, but I still think next year's squad will be solid.

The rotation will be back with a VENGEANCE...

...I just hope Bobby Crosby can live up to his billing as a very good young SS. He had 10 AB's in the majors this year, and he went 0-10 =/

If you would've asked me earlier on who to keep between Tejada & Chavez, I would've said Chavez. Now I'm leaning more towards Tejada. Losing our team leader won't be good at all

            Oh well...

            GO A'S!

I was under the assumption that Beane didn't draft all three. If he did, then I was wrong.
