Re: The Fan!!!!!!
Okay, I know that he is mainly a reason for their loss, but remember this...
The umpire would've called the batter out if he felt that ball was still a "live ball". What I mean by "live ball" is if nobody was there and didn't touch that ball, and if you saw where the ball landed (out-of-play or on the field), then that will determine whether a fan would really be allowed to touch a ball.
So, obviously the umpire (and myself) thought that the ball, if not touched by anybody, would've hit the railing, or at least the concrete top of the wall, which is not on the field, therefore out-of-play territory, so the fan, although a loser and a Cubs fan at the same time, attempted to catch the ball, he has every right to do so without getting kicked out of the stadium.
If the umpire thought the ball was going to stay on the field if it hadn't made contact with anybody, he would've called the batter out instantly, and the fan would be removed from the ballpark.
So, if there's someone to blame, you would have to blame the umpire... but ONLY blame him if you think that ball wasn't heading out of play, and DON'T blame him for calling it a foul ball because a fan touched it.Comment
