    Re: Todays Transactions 2012

Carlos Lee traded to the Miami Marlins. Just struck out his first at-bat.

Don't know if this is the best move. He doesn't hit many home runs outside of Minute Maid Park.

It's about even as to who won that trade, Dominguez was never gonna make it to bigs with the Marlins and may never get the bat going. Gaby was dreadful this year, I don't think they want Lee to hit HRs just drive guys in which Gaby was lacking and Hanley wasn't doing in the 3 spot.

Also only have to pay Lee $250K or something

Why with 6 games left? Seems asinine at this point to not just wait a week.

Wow, didn't realize they were 5-24 in August. What the hell?

They lead the AL Central before the AS break. Now they're in last place. Second half collapses became the norm. That's why they didn't wait. Acta stinks, always did. I never liked the hire.(remember he managed the Nationals and stunk. Now they're a pretty good team since his dismissal).

My point is that a week doesn't mean anything at this point. They should have canned him a month ago - get a new guy in to figure out what players he wants to keep around and get some momentum going into the end of the year.

                  Red Sox fire Bobby V.

I wish he had a second chance, though I don't think it would have proven much with this band of misfits. The problem is that he won't be hired again and he won't be a baseball personnel anymore either.

I'm not saying the team wasn't right for him, by the way. I'm saying that they weren't right for each other.

He did himself no favors by throwing his coaching staff under the bus on the radio the other day.

At times I felt like Bobby was given a raw deal as Red Sox manager. He was basically set up to fail from the beginning. Bobby also did enough to justify getting himself fired. The hire was a complete disaster all around.

As a fan of the Boston Red Sox I say good riddance. Won't miss him one bit.

Oh, and good bye to Dice K too. What a fraud.

He gave himself a raw deal by running his mouth and making things public in one of the most sensationalized media markets around. I have zero sympathy.

And yeah, throwing coaches under the bus (true or not...I suspect not) is purely classless and cowardly, but par for the course with that clown. Eff him...glad he's gone.

To be clear, I'm not blaming Valentine for the record...there's plenty of blame to be spread around in that regard. I blame Valentine for taking a mess and making it a freak show (though that also goes on the owners who knowingly hired such a personality).

                      I miss Francona.

I'm not saying I wish he got another chance with the Red Sox, I'm saying I wish he could replay his year with a team of players/coaches that meshed with him and didn't have too many injury issues. He fits somewhere in baseball, but did not fit with this Boston team.

Bobby V and the Sox was just a complete gong show. As a neutral observer, I loved every second of it.

Every day on my way into work I googled bobby valentine to see what crazy thing he said for the last month.

Gonna laugh if they hire Farrell. If I'm Farrell I'm quitting Toronto to see if I can be the RSox pitching coach

Jim Tracy resigned, Dan O'Dowd should be next but Monforts love him to death so I expect him to be here as the GM again next year.
