Who cares if they disrepected Hanley? They made Hanley the face of the franchise and all he did was embarrass them. He became known as lazy and that is not who you want to be the face of your franchise, so instead, they are going to make Reyes and possibly Pujols the face. Hanley can whine all he wants, but he will either be at 3rd base or traded by opening day.

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
He wasn't the perfect and responsible guy, but but it's not like Reyes is any different.
Personally, one reason he can become lazy and frustrated is because those horrible teams they fielded, the crappy stadium, everything. He had to be "the man" when he was still very young. When he first came up, Cabrera was there and was the face of the team. Then after 2 years, Cabrera is gone and Ramirez is only 23 and the face of franchise. That can mess with you. He didn't have any veterans out there to teach him how to handle different situations. It's like how he is gonna learn how to handle himself and act professionally if there was nobody to teach him and set those examples?
I think Hanley is just a product of the dysfunctional franchise the Marlins have been running.
If they sat him down from the start and let their plans known, and THEN he still had an issue, shame on him.
But they haven't really told him anything, and have let the media "ask" him to move. Right now he's just upset. I think it will blow over and he will play 3rd eventually. But I don't blame him for being upset right now.
When a guy is labeled as a cancer, you have to find out why he is that way. Some people are just selfish/stuck up by nature. Ramirez isn't though, Millar preached the other day how pleasant of a guy he was in Boston in '05. The selfish side of him is a baseball thing and not a personality thing. And he wasn't always this way. I think the Marlins operating is such a ridiculous way made him this way. They put a whole team on his back when he was a kid and put no veterans around him to teach him how to be a big leaguer. The Manager situations were bad, but most off all, the Marlins front office was just horrible.
They demoted and humiliated their 3rd best hitter because of what he said on twitter. What kind of leadership is that? The ownership can't lead their own franchise in a respectable way and then they get upset at Hanley for not being a great leader? He's just a product of them. Who is this organization, from player to coaches to ownership, was setting great examples over the years? Nobody! Not event he most important guy in the front office could show any leadership ability.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 12-06-2011, 09:27 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Yes, and it is not like the Marlins front office of Loria, Samson and Binefest (sp?) don't get bashed either. Hanley wasn't going to be the face next year anyways, Stanton and LL Cool JJ were. Hanley is on his way out if he doesn't shape up. Same with LoMo. That is how the organization is.Comment

Really torn on the Pujols situation.
As a diehard Cardinals fan I want nothing more than to see Albert come back and finish out his career here and have a legacy similar to Stan Musial, reach the rest of the milestones he'll reach in a Cards uniform.
But at the same time 10 years can really bite you hard when our payroll is only going to remain in the 100-110 mil a year range, all that money when hes older and declining makes me worry about ending up like the Giants did at the end of Bonds time there, he was still productive but so much payroll was tied up in him that they couldn't field a great team around him.Favorite Teams:

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
How the organization is? Yes, horrible.
How can you demote one of your best players because he was upset with another player not hustling? That's insane. Morrison on his way out for that? It's Miami's loss then. Morrison needs to stop acting like a responsible teammate by asking for his teammates to hustle! Get rid of him? That only people who that would hurt would be the Marlins.
If Hanley is on his way out? So then Reyes essentially replaces him in the organization? So Florida would be left with a less talented, more expensive player who is made of glass. Strong move, Marlins. Meanwhile Hanley would get traded to a real franchise, that has responsible owners/coaches/players and have guys who can actually lead by example, and put up numbers on a level that Reyes has never been able to.
Some guys just aren't leadership type of players. That's not a diss, it is what it is. Hanley isn't. But as a 23 year old, on a team full of rookies, they basically make him that guy. He's just a product of his situation.
You heard the same thing about Miguel Cabrera with his tenure in Miami. Lazy, overweight, doesn't care enough. He goes to Detroit with Pudge, Ordonez, Guillen, and after 2 years he's the hardest working player on that team, ACCEPTED a position change with zero problems, and worked his off in the Winter to make himself a respectable first basemen. And you can see on the field that nobody wants to win as badly as him.
He was in the same boat as Hanley, minus the huge blowups. He goes to a team that has great leaders, and he becomes the perfect hardworking, lead by example guy in the clubhouse. (Notice I said clubhouse and not off the field - different story). He gets dirty trying to make a nice play in the field. He takes the extra base (only Andrus went 1st to 3rd on singles more than Cabrera last year). He plays hard.
Complete 180 from the player he was in Miami. I think with Ozzie Guillen, and possibly Pujols, Ramirez can learn and settle in to a more comfortable position like Cabrera did.
Reyes is no better than Hanley. But I think the biggest thing Pujols would bring to this team is his leadership. Pujols becomes the man and he can handle taking the heat for his team. Ramirez is out of the pressure of trying to be the perfect person, and he can just settle in and play. He'd learn too.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 12-06-2011, 09:46 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
There was a lot more to the LoMo demotion then calling someone out. He won't be going anywhere as in any trade they've discussed it's been told that LoMo is off limits.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Anyways I'm done with the long responses, I just wan to say I've always loved the Marlins since they brought Pudge in. I want to see them to do well. I hope Pujols comes in and gets Ramirez and Reyes to act like professionals with the help of Guillen. And if that happens, you have not only a dynamic offense, but one of the better infields the game has seen in a long time. They could be a special team.
We'll see how it plays out.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment
