Do the Mariners have any hope of turning things around sooner rather than later?

I know everything the Rangers do is the greatest, but this guy hasn't done anything yet to merit him as being an upgrade over anyone.

However, the Rangers are not only shown in the Metroplex and reach as far as San Antonio, Austin, Albuquerque-Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Bossier City (not to mention Houston, although I feel that it will be off limits once the Astros come over). I think that's comparable to Los Angeles- Anaheim- San Diego and the Southern California market.

The Fighters switched to a five man rotation last year in preparation for his posting. The second part is true, but it's not like he's not going to receive any instruction once he comes over here. If he wasn't smart enough to learn the Rangers' system, they wouldn't have spent the money on him.

Orioles apparently turned down an offer of Jair Jurrjens, Martin Prado, and a pitching prospect for Adam Jones. Jurrjens I want, but if the Orioles trade Jones I will go insane. The only way I'd even consider that is if the pitching prospect was Mike Minor or Julio Teheran, and I highly doubt the Braves would go for that.

I believe the LA market alone is bigger than all of those put together. The LA-SD-ORange county population is just stlightly less than the entire state of Texas.

Baseball Almanac put this together for market size.

Doesn't matter though, I just don't see 3B being reasonable for that market.

I don't think it's a coincidence given they share the same fan base as the Cowboys.

I am guessing the Braves would move Jones to LF and keep Bourne in CF (that would be an outstanding defensive outfield with Jones, Bourne, and Heyward!), but I am kind of glad the O's turned it down. Outside of last year, Prado had put up 3 straight 800+ OPS years and Jones doesn't have one. We don't need another free swinger who walks once a week.

I'd like to send Vernon Wells to Baltimore for Adam Jones.

Haha...I'm sure you would. Heck, I'm sure you would like to just undo the Napoli trade period. Really don't know what they were thinking.

Napoli was always one of my favorite Angels. Scioscia never really liked him though due to his lack of defensive prowess. I thought it was a terrible move at the time, and still hate it.

They've got King Felix, along with some youth, so there's always hope. But those two things won't be enough to turn things around any time soon.

The best thing they have going for them as an organization is GM Jack Zduriencik, who has been able to strengthen the Ms farm system in the short time he's been there. Thing is the cupboard was pretty bare when he got here, both on the MLB level and in the minors. They've been last in the AL in runs scored the last three years, and the year before that in 2008 they were second to last.

Justin Smoak does not appear quite ready to step into being the type of impact hitter they need, though I do expect his numbers to get better next year, and Mike Carp showed some signs that he might turn out to be a pretty good hitter. Add Dustin Ackley into that mix and you have some nice pieces to start building a lineup.

But they need more than that. Fans are not coming out to Safeco anymore, and instead are going across the street to see the Seahawks and the Sounders. A Prince Fielder signing would turn the tides I think. He's the type of player that Ms fans would love, and is just what the organization needs. I don't think they would compete next year with Fielder, but it certainly would speed up the process.
                              All ties severed...

There was talk that the Blue Jays were asking for that from the Braves. Sounds to me like the Braves have really soured on those guys. I dunno if Jurgens would be as effective in the AL East as he's been in the NL. As for Prado he's a guy that's going to hit around .260 and 10 HRs (maybe) every year. So he's just an average guy.
