Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
ZiPS projections for Prince through 2020.
2012 - .275/.394/.504, 33 HR, 97 RBI
2013 - .273/.394/.504, 32 HR, 96 RBI
2014 - .272/.390/.496, 31 HR, 94 RBI
2015 - .266/.383/.479, 29 HR, 88 RBI
2016 - .262/.374/.462, 26 HR, 82 RBI
2017 - .259/.369/.440, 22 HR, 74 RBI
2018 - .255/.361/.424, 20 HR, 69 RBI
2019 - .253/.351/.415, 18 HR, 63 RBI
2020 - .248/.338/.388, 13 HR, 50 RBI
These aren't numbers of a guy who's worth 9 years, $214 Million.
I mean, how can you predict that he will never post an OBP over .400 with Detroit when the last time he DIDN'T have an OBP of .400 was 2007? What sense does that make?
Prince will never hit more than 32 homers the rest of his career? Even though 32 is his lowest total?
Those predictions are terrible. A 27 year old in his prime years is not going to experience such a huge falloff, especially hitting around Cabrera and Avila. There's no way to justify that right now.
People have their best years from 28-32. I really don't believe that Prince is going to get worse and worse starting from age 27.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
All of you talking about how many homers he will lose to Comerica have short memories...just a year ago on this very forum we have folks showing those same charts for Adrian Gonzalez, predicting 40-45 homers. He had a great year, but only hit 27 homers. You can't overlay spray charts on ballparks and really learn anything."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
ZiPS did project him to have the highest BA of his career, and projected him to equal his highest OBP. .316/.407/.569 was his projected line.Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Yeahhhhh...something tells me Prince'll do just fine. Similar concerns about moving to the American League, adjusting to Comerica, etc etc, were brought up when Cabrera came over from Florida.
I think Prince'll be okay. Call me crazy.Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
I know we like to talk baseball and throw in projections and statistics, but why must we overdo it? Prince could 50 home-runs or he could hit 5. It is just sickening to me to see the repeated charts and bickering over it. State and escape, jeez.
