It really doesn't matter though. If people want stringent testing it goes both ways. If the sample was mishandled and procedure was not followed, the results of the test come in to question and the point is moot. As soon as the results are questonable due to evidence handling, all bets are off.

Re: Braun tests positive for PEDs.
True, it's not a court of law, but how do you explain they were debating if it was actually Braun's urine and Braun offered his own DNA to prove it wasn't his.
MLB declined the DNA.
I don't know what happened, either, and maybe we will know at some point and maybe we won't.Comment

But again, as soon as evidence is mishandled or procedure is not followed, it's game over, and that makes sense and is the way it should be,.Comment

What would a DNA test even prove? It's going to be the same urine in that bottle, and they aren't going to cross check the specific element to his DNA.
The whole thing rests on time. The seal was not broken, the sample was secure when it was brought to the lab. Major League Baseball has done it this way for many other tests in the past; Braun and his lawyers were just able to find that loophole.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

How does that implicate that Braun's urine was in the jar if Braun is willing to prove it isn't?
MLB declined and the ESPN legal analyst Munson concludes that is why the arbitrator ruled in Braun's favor.Comment

So, with your first sentence there is no way Braun isn't guilty. Braun was willing to perform a DNA test that would conclude it wasn't his urine.

I will say this, the way they test because the steroid culture has advanced so quickly, is certainly not as accurate or as rock solid as some would lead you to believe. There's a lot of assumptions and guesses made from what I can understand.
But again, as soon as evidence is mishandled or procedure is not followed, it's game over, and that makes sense and is the way it should be,.
It's going to shock some people.
I've known that testing is always a step behind the latest in steroids. And they have to get the OK by the leagues and whatnot to use the newest advancements. It's like a cops & robbers things. Robbers have no rules to work by, while the cops have to abide by certain laws and whatnot. They can go rogue, but if they do, and it's found out, it'll be thrown out and erase any of the progress they made anyway.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Braun tests positive for PEDs.
I figured MLB declined the DNA test because the MLBPA would never give the green light on that.
Just like when players say, "Test me! Test me!" They know full well their union would never allow that.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: Braun tests positive for PEDs.
Then why turn it down? Accept it, and when the MLBPA blocks it, put the onus back on the player and the union.Last edited by bkrich83; 02-24-2012, 02:52 PM.Comment

I really believe that the MLB FIXED this situation after Braun got caught. They couldn't have their MVP sitting out 50 games! He definitely deserved the award considering that he outperformed all of the other roid users.
