If you don't start Beckett in game 6 then who do you throw? Willis? He's been erratic and if they lose he won't be availble in his usual middle-relief spot. Redman? Thats like handing the Yanks the game on a platter. I think McKeon made a good call here. You still have Pavano who pitched a gem in game 4 to go in game 7.

Besides, young pitchers generally respond well to short rest. Sometimes better.

Hmm... I've been thinking, what if the Yankees beat the Marlins in Game 6, who's going to pitch for the Marlins?

Pavano. I think McKeon announced this today as well. Redman won't pitch again since he's been shelled so far and Penny won't be able to go again (maybe in relief in game 7 though). Willis is another option, but I think McKeon prefers him in the bullpen right now.

The Marlins want to seize the opportunity. All the momentum is in their favor after taking the last two. They feel they can score against this Yankees pitching right now, and with Beckett on the mound, you just need on couple runs and you should be safe.

I like the move myself. It's the end of the year, pitch counts don't matter. It's do or die. The Yankees are battered, bruised, and confused. The Marlins are looking the take advantage.

But for some reason...I just got this feeling that regardless of who starts Game 6, the Yankees are going to find a way to stretch this one to seven games...

If it were me, I would keep Beckett for Game 7 and take my chances in Game 6. I just don't get this move. I'm routing for the Marlins, since they knocked my Giants out.
