Barry Larkin inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame

As a lifelong Reds fan and Larkin being my all-time favorite player...this is awesome news. Only player elected by the writers this year.

Wow, It's a rare (probably not so rare considering the HOF) honor to be the ONLY modern day voted on player to get elected to the HOF. The guy was truly one of the best shortstops in the game.

    Kudos to Larkin.

Good for him...should have happened last year. Now, please explain how Tim Raines is still not in and Jack Morris vote total is climbing (just missed it by 48 votes this year). With the glut of guys coming up the next few years I don't think Rock will ever get in now...real shame.

A little surprised to see Juan Gonzalez get so little support. Not saying he should have gotten a lot but I expected voters to support him better.

Equally surprised to see Bernie Williams make the cut.

As for Larkin: should have been last year.

          Morris is still getting support?

          Raines is still being ignored?

I don't think the writers will ever let a DH in.

I'm surprised about Bernie as well, but I thought he would be given a little more leniency for being a switch hitter. He also was a doubles machine from time to time, and had okay speed as well. Not saying he should be touching the Hall, I'm just saying that I wonder if it's because he was a Yankee that he was even known, because while that certainly overrated his value, I still think he would have been pretty important in any lineup.

Juan Gonzalez was a right fielder for a large portion of his career.

I think Bernie is definitely helped by being a Yankee.

I'm sure someone could argue he's even hurt by it. He was a good player. Hall of Famer? No. But a good player that probably deserves more votes than some of the names above him.

Edit: No he doesnt. Worked off memory and the names he's above, he should be. The names he is below, he should be.

Re: Barry Larkin inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame

Congrats Larkin, it was well deserved.

Morris will probably get in next year, putting a big hit on the standards for starters. The Jim Rice of pitchers, his argument is built almost entirely upon subjectivity, anecdotes, and one unforgettable playoff game.

Trammell continues to be grossly under-appreciated by the voters. Lee eff'ing Smith still gets more support? Puh-frickin-leeze.

Raines, see comment about Trammell. At least Raines is moving in the right direction and has enough time.

Bagwell, probably still hurt by the stigma of the "steroid era." It'll take a couple years, but it'll get done eventually.

The Bagwell thing is embarrassing. Only skinny guys are allowed in the Hall of Fame now?

Growing up in Kentucky, I watched Larkin many times at Cinergy and Great American ballparks, a truly fantastic player that deserved to get in the first year, but better late then never. Congrats Lark.

Bagwell should be next, When healthy he was a terror, It's amazing how he kept his numbers pretty consistent wit how hard he swung.

Jeff Bagwell not being in the HOF is pathetic.

I was hoping Edgar would get above 45% this year.

Perfect way to say it, quotations and all. They're punishing him based completely off the era he played in, not even on actual suspicion. It's ridiculous.
