Bonds played CF in his rookie year with the Pirates but was then moved over to LF to accommodate Andy Van Slyke who went on to win 6 straight gold gloves in CF. Fair enough?

Re: Barry Bonds or Ken Griffey Jr.?
Did they have a better left fielder? That's the question at hand.
I know that a player's skill should determine what position they play, but sometimes familiarity and experience trumps skill level when it comes to identifying that specific role which they'll play on the team.
You never want to waste talents in an entire lineup, and that's far more important than trying to squeeze every bit of talent out of just one man.

Re: Barry Bonds or Ken Griffey Jr.?
Also, sometimes, players role in the outfield depends on their arm strength. Usually RF'ers and CF'ers have stronger arms than LFers. Usually.
From my understanding, Bonds' arm was "average" in terms of strength, but was pinpoint accurate.7 National Championships
