yeah, wouldnt THAT be nice.....but this year i think theyve got two potential franchise players who are no-brainers to sign, if at all possible , in Kaz and Vlad....could turn out that Kaz struggles a bit with the transition to MLB, but i think its worth the risk, especially when factoring in that the Mets have to do something positive to restore the franchise to credibility...and Vlad is a top 5 player in MLB, if you have even a chance, JUMP ON IT

Exactly. Even if you have to pay Vlad 15-17 mil a season, there will be nobody coming along anytime soon that is better than him and will be available. Arod(money), Bonds(old), Pujols(not going anywhere), or Helton(maybe) are not available to the mets. Go after Vlad and Try to sign a superstar now. He fills an offensive void for the Mets and has a cannon of an arm in right field.

the Expos have ofered 5 years and 70 mil (14 per) to Vlad with, i believe, the hopes that he would accept by today so they dont have to offer him arbitration....if they dont offer arbitration, he's definitely on the move....also should be interesting to see who's "officially" available come midnight tonight...but still, for Vlad, id be willing to overpay...im not talking Ramirez money, but something up to 18mil/per if thats what it takes, the man is just too good not to try

                        Mets suck.

Even if they get Matsui, they will still suck.

Re: It appears \"Little Matsui\" might be heading to the Mets.

The Associated Press moved this story at 5:30 p.m. (EST) on Sunday:

Matsui says he hasn’t made decision, yet
TOKYO (AP) — Kazuo Matsui still hasn’t decided which team he’ll play for next season.
The Japanese free agent shortstop told reporters Sunday that he hasn’t reached an agreement yet.
“It’s a fact that I’m negotiating with the Mets,” Matsui said. “I’m in the process of selecting a team from the four I’m talking to.”
The New York Mets haven’t commented on the talks; Matsui didn’t name the other three teams.
