Re: 2012 ALDS: Baltimore Orioles v. New York Yankees

I'm sure it's already been said or thought multiple times, but I just got home for the first time since this game ended... anyway, I think it's cool that every 2012 division series lasted all five games.

I sure hope the O's can pull through tomorrow though.

Figures the series would go 5. These 2 teams have played each tough all year.

Man this has been a helluva post-season

They need to fire Girardi. Disgusted by this guy.

Listening to the media and fans to make a Game 5 decision?

The impact of this move is going above the head's of those that truly support the decision to bench Alex Rodriguez.

Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher and Curtis Granderson have equally been disappointing this post season. The latter has been worse than Rodriguez.

To make this decision tells me he's appeasing the masses rather than managing. There is no basis for benching your #3/#5 hitter (think about that. This isn't just some #7 hitter. This is your middle of the lineup hitter) in a crucial Game 5 because he is struggling and not do the same for Cano, Swisher and Granderson.

Granted, I'd be more upset if he benched all four at the same time, but what message is he truly sending here? If it's that you struggle you sit, then sit everyone that's struggling.

Instead, the message appears to be: The media and fans run the lineup, not me.

Please fire this guy. I thought he had angered and confused me with prior moves but this one takes the cake. Girardi has just benched his middle of the lineup hitter in favor of his replacement because the media and fans got to him.

            Disgusting.

I agree. Girardi just pulled a panic move benching A-Rod. If you wanted both Ibanez & Chavez in the lineup, you bench Granderson or Swisher.

Put Ibanez in 1 of the corner OF spots, Chavez @ 3B & DH A-Rod.

Every time I think Girardi has taken a positive step forward as a manager, he always seems to find a way to take 2 steps back

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this. I'm disgusted by this move. He panic. Granderson has been atrocious and so has Cano. The media got to him..

I really thought Granderson was going to be benched, move Ichiro to center and Ibanez in at left. I am fine with Arod benched but Granderon should be sitting next to him.

I also feel its a very bad move. It's one thing for the fans/media to single one guy out. It's another for the manager to do it.

Through 3 innings we have more of the same, good pitching and terrible hitting from both sides.

Ibanez with an RBI single 1-0 Yankees.

Once Mark Teixeira steals a base you better get him in.

Love the Yankees being aggressive on the base paths right now

I don't really care if Arod is on the bench, but might as well bench the whole team by that logic, the hitting has been atrocious.

You got that right!, he's where he belongs!, 8 strikes-outs and people want him to break-out of his slump in the last game of the series? wow!
