    I would be shocked. If we sign Pettitte (who is going to make around $10 mil per), we'd have almost no money left to sign a quality rightfielder and upgrade the bullpen. Schuerholz has shocked me before, though.

      Byrd won't be ready until August at the earliest. I doubt he'll ever start a game in an Atlanta uniform. What a complete waste.

            I actually wouldn't mind them taking a shot at Miguel Batista if they can't get Millwood or Pettite for a good price. Batista could be signed for about $5 million probably.

                  While it's true that Pettite is going through a small decline he's still a VERY good pitcher and he brings intangibles to the table. The man knows how to win in postseason. He's a warrior and won't quit on the team. He's actually one of those pitchers i'd love to have on my side in a Game 7 situation.

                              Sportsman, I was referring to Thompson as someone we need someone better than. I wouldve loved Petitte. I agree with everything you said about Petitte. He's so clutch, there are only a couple of other pitchers I'd rather hand the ball to in October.
