But until the O's start to win and make the playoffs, we'll have to slightly overpay for all of our FA's considering our recent history of placing no higher than 4th place. I think this is a good signing.

Check out Miggy's road stats over those at home, considerably higher. He is arguably the 3rd or 4th best SS in the league, and when A-Rod makes 25, Jeter makes 18, Nomar makes 11.5 (soon to be about 13-15), 12 million is not overpaying.

One thing to note, OPACY is not a "hitters park", it actually decreases doubles and triples, but increase HRs. Miggy will do just fine.

People like Baltimore, Detroit, Tampa Bay, San Diego have to overpay to get All-Star talent. Period.

No San Diego doesn't, they just don't pay. San Diego is a town that guys are killing to play in, it's apretty well known fact around baseball. Ever heard of the old "San Diego dicount?" Guys have taken less money to play in San Diego, rather than a bigger paycheck to play some place with a lousy climate.

I don't think Baltimore has to overpay for anyone. This team had the best record in baseball in 97. They got stuck in some terrible contracts with Albert Belle and Scott Erickson that they have finally rid themselves of. Baltimore is an extremely attractive place to play. They play in a hitter's park with a tremendous fanbase. Now with rumors circulating today that Vlad and Pudge are on their way. Baltimore is making some noise in the East. Now they need to sure up their rotation with a quality starter, Ponson perhaps.

With Tejada, Pudge, and Vlad plus the mix of young, talented players they had last year, this team has one of the best offensive teams in baseball.

I'm curious what the fascination with Ponson is? He's had ONE good year and suddenly he wants a 10mil/year contract and people think he should get it? I don't think he's worth the gamble.
