MLB to expand video review in 2014 to include manager challenges, pending owner vote. Plays will be reviewed by crew at MLB headquarters.

It'll be interesting to see how the challenge system works if they go ahead with this.

Three challenges per game? That's a lot. There's a lot of games they won't even be used but there are managers like Scioscia I could see using every single one every single game.

What bothers me most about each manager having 3 challenges is if they are right on a challenged replay the manager keeps his challenge. It's going to slow the game down too much after the 7th inning.

I'd rather be right than wrong but you're right. My God, Yankees/Red Sox playoff games would take even LONGER to complete.

I can definitely see certain managers abusing the challenges. Although it might be a good way to give a reliever extra time to warm up, if one was so inclined.
