Yeah, at the very least Bosch would've been paid big money to be quiet though I think with A-Rod he may be crazy enough to have him killed just to keep his reputation "clean".

Cubs introduced their first mascot in team history. His name is Clark. He won't be jumping on dugouts. He's there simply to welcome fans as they enter Wrigley. Considering his design, twitter account and intent, he's for the kids.

So naturally, grown men are complaining.

Found this yesterday, and I thought it was really interesting.

A late-60s concept of a rolling roof over Truman Sports Complex that could cover either Arrowhead or Kaufman, maybe even both if it separated in the middle.

Interesting and very ambitious though I somehow get the feeling it'd be fraught with problems much like the retractable roof over Olympic Stadium.

Yeah yesterday I started following my new favorite Twitter account: MLB Cathedrals. I've never seen the majority of pictures they've been posting. Like this 1983 concept of what eventually became Tropicana Field.

And one that BurghFan can truly appreciate, Forbes Field and the Cathedral of Learning.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm sure this has come up before but what are some good sites that give simple, easy to understand descriptions of some of the more advanced stats?

Honestly I might get killed for this but I wouldn't be surprised if names like Pujols, and Griffey started to come out. At this point nothing would come as a shock to me.
I don't know what I would do if it came to be that Griffey used PEDs.

I've heard Griffey was pretty lazy when it came to conditioning and such. (This comes from Lou Piniella (sp?)) So it wouldn't be completely out of the realm of possibility that Junior may have at least dabbled in it.

Eh, normally when people do 'roids without being on top of conditioning... they just get bulkyfat. I had plenty of friends in high school take them without working out like they should have and they all just ended up fat. It was funny.

Obviously, I wouldn't rule it out... but I wouldn't care either way. He was a joy to watch play, roids or not.

MLB is stupid to make a big deal out of this.

That's the important thing. The majority of people that used (or are accused of such) were fun to watch. I never got to see the 1998 home run race, but hearing people talk about it is amazing. Now everyone involved is linked to PEDs (counting Griffey being mentioned here).

Yeah, that's actually been known for awhile here in KC. Several years ago when the renovations to Kauffman and Arrowhead were being proposed, that idea was brought up again. We were actually promised a Super Bowl and Final Fours if the roof was installed but it added too much to the overall cost and was shot down. But they were built perfectly in line with each other so that could be installed at a later date, so it's still possible.

The FanGraphs glossary. Read through all of it. Every damn one. I spent an hour or two on there and it changed the way I watch baseball. It's well written, easy to understand, and plain great.

If you want the key stuff, get a good understanding of WAR, BABIP, DIPS, wOBA, wRC+, Park Factors, and maybe a few other things. If you have /any/ questions, PM me.

BTW - it's always kind of cracked me up that SABR guys who say clutch doesn't exist have a stat that measures CLUTCH. I know what it is/isn't…I just find it humorous.
