Re: MLB Off-Topic 2013
Maybe someone knows a legit reason because I honestly don't.
Why do these guys wait so long to have surgery after the season?
My only assumption is they go on vacation, aren't willing/ready to work out and put it off till it's time to get ready for baseball.
That makes sense to me. But if it's not that, I really don't get it.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

DETROIT- Justin Verlander underwent successful core muscle repair surgery this morning. The procedure was performed by Dr. Bill Meyers in Philadelphia. Verlander sustained an injury at the end of December while performing his offseason conditioning program. He will undergo physical rehabilitation for the next six weeks and will be reevaluated at the end of that time.
“We fully anticipate Justin to participate in spring training and be in a position to compete at the beginning of the 2014 season,” said Tigers President, CEO and General Manager, David Dombrowski.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Rangers LHP Derek Holland had surgery to repair a torn ligiment in his left leg. The official report is that he had a freak fall at his home, but 1310 The Ticket is reporting that he tore it during a Monday night beer league hockey game. He also had an assist in that game for what it's worth.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

I knew when I read that he fell down the stairs at home that it was a load of bull****.
I don't fault these guys for actually having lives outside of their sport though. If he wants to play rec hockey, he should play rec hockey.Comment

MLB players are the WORST liars about this stuff. Remember Kent's "I broke my wrist washing my truck" story? Really?"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

This is the same guy that during the big ice storm last month threw a bunch of planks together and built an ice sheet to play on. I'm surprised he didn't kill himself then.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks
