Let this forever be known as the only walk-off A-Rod ever deserved & earned.

Rodriguez may have been doing steroids since 8th grade but what Selig is pulling smells like a witch hunt to me. Selig needed to take the stand.

Witch hunt might not be the best term. I'd say "Selig is trying to save his legacy". He's forever going to be known as the Commish that allowed the steroid era to fully bloom and did nothing about it. So with the rules set up the way they are now helps but seeing a SUPERSTAR like A-Rod completely get away with what he's done in the past seems egregious and Selig wants to mete out the punishment. Of course, he can get away with it because A-Rod for all his fame is one of the least liked big name players around.

Unfortunately for Selig this saving face on his part is so transparent that it DOES have the smell of a witch hunt and he's looking just as petty and unscrupulous as A-Rod.

I'm on A-Rod's side at this point. Selig is pretty much just doing whatever he wants in order to give people some semblance of an idea that he's taking a stand against steroids. 211 of all numbers, not justifying his position, etc, I can't support it. That and it would be so nice for the Yankees to not have A-Rod suspended and firmly on payroll.

              Agreed.

MLB and Selig have looked terrible in this whole affair. The entire time there have been leaks saying they have mountain of evidence. I still haven't seen anything that leads me to believe he did anything. He's probably guilty but MLB is doing a horrid job of proving it

Rodriguez took this more personally than it really is. No baseball commissioner has ever shown up to one of these hearings, so there's no reason he should feel this is an exception I suppose.

This was probably all scripted by his lawyers so he can push this to federal court.

I actually do like the point the writer might be trying to make.

The whole process is a joke. If a guy can easily sell his vote (though yes it will most definitely be void) it kinda makes you wonder if it hasn't already been done before without being revealed.

The people given votes shouldn't have them. Those that should don't get them. Way too many statement votes. Way too many wait another year votes.

I mean are these guys gonna make Maddux wait a second year before getting in just because they don't want him to get 100%?

And the stupid 100%. Who in their right mind doesn't think Maddux is a HOFer? Yet guys won't vote for him simply because no one has ever gotten 100%. Great. Let's defend the idiocy of the past with more idiocy.

Much like Gold Gloves, I stopped caring about Baseball's Hall of Fame. Sadly, I've also been caring less about baseball as the entire game just appears to be sitting in corruption from head to toe.

I'd have more respect for the writer if he just stopped voting. Stephen Brunt here in Toronto was a member of the BBWAA but a few years ago with the whole PEDs thing running wild he turned in his card and stopped voting mainly due to the hypocrisy of the whole thing.

Just read that Evan Chambers, a minor league player and good friend of Mccutchen died in his sleep. I've never heard of him personally. But that's just heartbreaking. 24 years old, and just getting his dream started, and then that. Just ain't right.
