Pujols Greedy? Could it really be!?

Unfortunately Albert Pujols seems to be falling ill to the greed of Major League Baseball. Even though the Cardinals offered him a six-year, $72 million offer - it was rejected less than two weeks ago. Pujols has since said he would not grant the club a discount on a long-term deal...

What kind of friggin Groceries does the Pujols Family have to buy anyways? Hopefully Pujols doesn't make a huge deal out of this, because his popularity in St. Louis would probabily decline. If the Cards were smart they would trade him away to the Yankees and get some pitchers and prospects. And let them pay him his fat check. I remember when Stan Musial was playing he actually gave some of his money back to the team when he had a bad year once. And Pujols isn't happy make 10+ Million a year. Who the hell does this guy think he is? Alex Rodriguez?

"here is one that makes Pujols an MVP off the field. Pujols has a daughter with Down Syndrome. Before a game last week, children with Down Syndrome were on the field in St. Louis.

One child asked Pujols before the game to hit a home run for him. She had asked the same thing the previous two years, and Pujols did it. And he did it a third time.

"I was sitting at my locker thinking, ‘Is this for real?’ ” Pujols said. "Three years in a row she asked me to hit the ball out of the park, and I did it. It's pretty special for me and my family, this being Down Syndrome Day, and for that little girl."

Now that's an MVP — Most Valuable Person."

Just going by his numbers on the field, I'd say he is worth every penny. Looking at how he is off the field, I'd give him what ever he asked for.

C'mon at least you have to admit he's worth more than 10.5 mill a year. It's not like he's asking Manny Ramirez or Arod type of figures, but even though he's worth more than what he's currently being offered, I don't see a reason why to give him more until he reaches FA. Let's see how his hearing goes.
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "
                - Lavar Arrington on his new Redskins teammate Sean Taylor.

Re: Pujols Greedy? Could it really be!?

Hmm as I said before if Pujols becomes too much of a distraction then Jocketty should pull off a Mariners type of thing and trade him before the deadline.

I personally think he's worth more than the 10.5 mil BUT and this is a big but, the times have changed and the superstars can't command as much money as they used to. The era of throwing millions and millions of dollars at the feet of even mediocre players is slowly fading away.

I think that it's kind of bad of Pujols not to take a home team discount after all look at Roy Halladay. The man could've raked in much more money then he did after his '03 season but he signed a very economic yet rewarding contract with the Jays. The Jays and Cards are pretty much in the same boat in the market size dept. (until STL gets their new stadium then they'll have more money to play with for a few yrs)

I'd bump the offer up to 6 yrs $85 mil if I could.
