What gives you the idea that lunatic was a good commissioner! The game couldn't integrate until that guy left town.

Fay Vincent was a good commissioner.

Re: Let\'s clear the dust --

I voted the trade was bad for the game because it's going to make the regular season a bore. No way does this team do anything other than run away with the AL East, and at least a third of their wins are going to be over after the third inning-- I mean, how many times will they play the Devil Rays? Talk about meaningless ballgames. Yankee fans, don't kid yourself into thinking it's going to be exciting to watch this team play. Half the line-up will be on cruise-control each game (imagine the NFL Pro-Bowl 140 times over). ZZZZzzzzz.

A-Rod on Boston made for an exciting pennant race. I blame the Sox for not getting it done, but now it's all about waiting for October.

This trade is bad for the game!!

The man was a product of his times however he had the most power of ANY commissioner in MLB history. Under his auspices the game survived the 1919 Black Sox Scandal. Under any other Commish that scandal would've caused the downfall of the sport.

Landis was also a man who was very good at laying down the law and making sure no one got too big for their britches.

He would only take the job if he had absolute power, if memory serves me. No way will the owners let anyone be commissioner who they don't have in their back pocket. The only way would be if the fans threatened the income of both players and owners by not supporting the league. Until that day we're going to see the same crap we see today.

I think baseball fans should boycott the Yankees. I'll do my part by slowly diminishing my present addiction to bitching about them on sports-forums. It's a slow-go.
