I think its no contest, Pedro/Schilling/Lowe is better than Mussina/Brown/ and Vazquez. Let's face it, Mussina is overrated and has been ever since he signed with the Yankees. He did not have a good postseason last year, or really a good second half for that matter. And Lowe will have better numbers with Pokey Reese at second base and Millar at first for the whole year.

Moose looked OK in Game 7 of the ALCS if I recall...

Low'es numbers have trended downward since his 1st year as a starter. He had the highest run support in the AL last year, so I would expect him to be much more of a 4.50 ERA, 14-11 kind of guy than 18 to 20 wins.

Any talk of the Sox repeating their career years is foolish Sux fan spin-doctoring; it just ain't gonna happen.

Pedro will be hard pressed to pitch 200 innings this year, and his head is so messed up against the Yankees he'll be a non-entity as usual.

plus kevin Millar and DAvid ortiz won't put up the same numbers as last year and pokey reese is even worse than todd walker.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

Kevin Millar has a down year from what is used to experiencing, he'll put up better numbers this year.

No one gets inside Pedro's head, thats just foolish to even suggest.

Nobody ever said Arod was the best hitter in the league others put stats up like him, but what makes him the best PLAYER in baseball is the combo of his hitting and fielding which is better than Soriano. Too bad it isn't at short but still he could be the best 3rd basemen ever one day.

Edit: Mussina overrated? He's the one true work horse in the MLB and he'll win 15 games or more year in and year out. Overrated LOL.

                              Re: Concern for yankee fans

Mussina's not a bad pitcher, but he's not the ace the Yankees want him to be.

Millar's a career .290 hitter, he hit .276 last year. The two years prior to that he hit .314 and .306. His OPS in both of those years was .931 and .875 where as last year it was .820. He did set a career high of 25 home runs in 544 AB's and before it was 20 in 449. It's very reasonable to assume he'll have numbers just as good if not better and its completely false to say it was a career year because his 2001 season was more of a career year.

And while we're at it, David Ortiz's numbers the last 3 years:
                              AB's AVG HR OPS
                              303 .234 18 .799
                              412 .272 20 .839
                              448 .288 31 .961

Looks like a logical progression. Fenway has been pretty friendly to him (.315, 17 HR) so I expect similar numbers this year.
