Because occasionally neutralizing the short porch in RF is more important in Yankee stadium than it is in Fenway?

I don't think the Yankees necessarily NEED to acquire a lefty starter. It would be nice, sure, but the fact remains that Mussina/Brown/Vazquez is as good as Pedro/Schilling/Lowe. I'd be surprised if Kevin Brown and Schilling lasted the whole year, and the Yankees have a lot of questions for the 4 and 5 spots. Lieber is OK versus righties when healthy (which I'm not sure he is yet), but gets ripped up by lefties. Wakefield is historically inconsistent (as most knuckleballers are), and Byung-Hyun Kim will not pitch past August for obvious psychological reasons. All things being equal, the Yankees have a better lineup, as the Red Sox can't possibly depend on Billy Mueller or David Ortiz duplicating their 2003 seasons...they might, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. The Yankees hitters, on the other hand, like Sheffield and Rodriguez have performed consistently year after year. That being said, I am going to be rooting HARD for the Devil Rays and Blue Jays this year.
