It's already happening. ESPN/MLB with their LeBron James, Tim Tebow, Brett Favre-ification of him is getting to be way too much.
And if he is voted into the All-Star Game via the final vote it will be a joke. I don't care what the guy has accomplished in only about a month's worth of games. There are other players out there more worthy who have been playing the whole season.

So you thought it was a joke when Harper was added last year?

I agree, thankfully I don't really watch ESPN so I don't get into that hype. The Tebow nonsense really tore me away from them. I have been able to just follow his maturation with dodgers broadcasts so its all authentic. While I do not think he should be in the AS game, I'm still voting for him mainly to watch all the salty "old-fashion" baseball fans get upset.

With his first-inning home run, Mike Trout has reached the 50 HR/50 SB mark faster than any player in A.L. history (266 games).

I'm not saying he's Brooks, but that play is practically identical to this one:

manny makes it look so effortless. Jezz man, show some effort at least. You're making every other 3rd baseman look like a three year old kid with that arm.

Although he probably couldn't keep that performance up for a full season, it is ridiculous to see that would it would be up there with Babe Ruth's best seasons and Yastrzemski's triple crown season in '67. Would also destroy the record Trout set for rookies.

Puig needs to be in the All Star game. Baseball needs name recognition and to keep attracting new fans with stars, especially after the huge disgrace most of the "traditional" stars are. Old crusty baseball fans can die, they're the ones turning the sport into more of a niche than hockey.

I think the league is making a comeback in the younger age group from where they were a few years ago.

They are. And guys like Puig will help that, not hurt it. Especially if he's arrogant about it.

There's no way one player can do that for MLB, but guys like Puig, Trout, Harper, etc. will do that. It's also great seeing teams like Pittsburgh make it back to the top and the resurgence of national attention there again.

Denying Puig an All Star spot is as stupid as having Prince Fielder and Jason Castro on the team.

As a young person, I don't think it's about having young, arrogant players. It's about successfully promoting the in-stadium atmosphere, getting out in the sun. I also think baseball fans are sexier than fans of other sports. Football and hockey conjure images of chubby, bearded men for me, but when I think of baseball I think of hot girls.
