So I'm guessing the new report that came out that Anderson's lawyers are saying Bonds was offered something along the line of steroids, but rejected them, means nothing to you guys?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Honestly, no. Lawyers aren't known to be the most honest people.

Think about it though. These lawyers are representing a guy who sold people steorids/illegal drugs. Their job is to prove that this guy sold these drugs to as few people as possible (which will result in a lesser sentence for their client). These lawyers are getting paid good money to get their client off with as little damage as possible and they'll go to any measure to obtain that.

It's also possible Bond's got steroids from someone else or that he was off the stuff by the time this trainer asked him or that he never used and this is just a strange occurence. There's just too many variables here to just assume that what these lawyers said equates to Bonds never using 'roids.

Fair enough, I'll accept that argument. Personally, I don't think Bonds was/is on steroids at all. Maybe I'm biased because I've been a Giants fan for pretty much my entire life now.

Also, something to think about. All these people say that Barry went from a skinny guy to a bulked up machine in one offseason. I found a slideshow last of pictures of Bonds each year. He started to get bigger in 1999, and reached his peak in 2001. He's stayed pretty much the same since. I'll see if I can't find that link again.

Edit: And just like that, I find the link. Check it out here. Take main note at pictures 10-14, or there abouts. Those highlight 1998-2001. You can see in the spring training picture, he has a good amount of muscle on him, just not bulked all the way up. In the 1999 picture, he's bulked up a bit more, and so on. I think that (hopefully) should quiet the people saying he went from a stick to a log in one offseason.

Bond's definately didn't get big over one season. I'd guess it was over maybe 5 seasons. It would be interesting to see a year by year chart on his weight gain. I'm a Pirates fan and live 20 min north of Pittsburgh so I got to see Barry in his early years quite often. He's a good 30 pounds or so bigger now, but it certainly wasn't over the course of 1 year.

My problem with this entire thing is that anyone who's bulked up is being accused of 'roids. The only guy I doubt that used them is McGwire. Why? Because he would've been crazy to mix steroids with all the other stuff he was taking! And we all know he was on andro and who knows what else. But guys like Bonds, Sosa, Giambi, Bret Boone etc.... They all got bigger throughout their careers, but no one knows if it was through hard work or steroids.

However, not everyone that's bulking up is being accused of taking them. Reportedly, Paul Lo Duca has reported to camp 20 pounds heavier than last year, all muscle, just from cutting out the caffeine and going on a stricter diet. People bashed Bonds when this supposedly happened, but not a peep about Lo Duca.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that, but then again, I'm on the East Coast and unless it's a huge story, not much is mentioned. I guess it'll be interesting to see what Lo Duca does during the season this year. If he hits 50+ HR's, I'm sure people will start to talk.

Kind of like Bret Boone in 2001. If memory serves me correctly, he showed up and was much lareger than he had been in previous seasons. He went out and jacked his career high in HR's (37) that year. His best before that was 24. It certainly made me wonder...
