    Doubt the Yankees will retaliate. Based on their position in the standings, it just wouldn't be smart to do something when every game can be the difference between playing in October or not.

        Just to put the 1998 Yankees in perspective, to match their record the Atlanta Braves would have to go undefeated the rest of the way (38 games).

          And even then, they'd finish 2 wins short of the 2001 Mariners and 1906 Cubs!

            Yup, I thought about mentioning those other two...except that the 2001 Mariners fell on their faces in the playoffs and no one on here can relate to the 1906 Cubs. I also think the 1998 Yanks are probably better than both of those teams as well.
