Re: 2013-14 Hot Stove League Thread
Yea I don't think that would be wise for the M's to give up that much for Kemp... Better off to go after Ellsbury/Choo and look for a different RH power bat.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: 2013-14 Hot Stove League Thread
And we have a signing.
Nick Punto agrees to a deal with the A's. 3 million with a vesting option for 2015 if he spends less then 30 days on the DL.
Switch hitting backup/platoon guy that can play ball over the infield and is a better defensive option than Callaspo. Great fit for the A's and their platooning ways.
It's not much, but it's something.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: 2013-14 Hot Stove League Thread
That might be what they want but they absolutely should avoid that imo. Kemp's contract and injuries are bad enough; the fact that his offense veered off a bit is also concerning enough that giving up THAT package would be pretty bad when you could probably get Price or open discussions for Stanton with that."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013-14 Hot Stove League Thread
Orioles are interested in Beltran provided they clear another high salary player.
This is a ****ing joke. The fact that they still cry small market and have this ridiculous self-imposed budget despite owning a regional sports network, increased attendance, and increased revenues is embarrassing and I wish it was possible for MLB to do something about it. They have a window to challenge for a World Series and they're going to blow it because our moron owner is a cheapskate.Comment

But seriously, yea it doesn't make sense to specifically have to move one contract to pick up/sign another of equal value.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: 2013-14 Hot Stove League Thread
That's your bias talking. If they would make an effort to upgrade at LF/SP they could absolutely make a run. You do realize they won 93 games in 2012 (and would have made the ALCS if not for Jim Johnson) and were in the playoff race until the last week and a half of the season last year, correct?Comment
