I think that was about typical Kerry Wood. He will continue to be the one person that can stop himself from taking that 'next step' in his career. I hope we see better from him next start.

I also heard Prior threw from flat ground and had no pain so that's good news.

Yeah, at times Wood lost himself completely on the mound. I'm hoping it's just an early-season type thing that will get better over time, but who knows, he's been like this his whole career. Hope he shapes up a little bit, though, as he's my best pitcher on my fantasy team.

They said Borowski lost some velocity this year, I hope it doesn't become a problem. Im confident considering the fact that we picked up a lot of talent this year in relief and that Wuertz kid looked damn good(well at least sounded good, Im at work and only have access to a radio).

These were the kind of games that Wood would have either got a no decision last year or a loss. The bats picked it up when he needed some help which was definitely not the case last year. Well anyway its a long season but so far things look promising.

Everyone will deny it, but I think we'll see Hawkins closing out games for the Cubs by the year's end.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

If u were 2 look at Hawkins' stats as a closer they're horrible. They moved him 2 to set-up man in Minnesota and that is where he has had success. Jim Hendry, Dusty, and Latroy have all said the job is Borowski's. I know this doesn't mean that they might not put him in as the closer, but I would rather not see him there.

Latroy would be the first 2 admit that he is more confident as a set-up man. I also know that there is an incentive in his contract 2 get a pay raise if he does become the closer, but it just doesnt make sense 2 make him the closer.

Junior's first game, and he starts it off good with a 2-run dinger off of Maddux. 3-0 Reds.
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "

And every other power hitter in the league too.

I was disappointed in the Cubs' lack of patience at the plate tonight. We gotta look at more pitches and not swing at so much early junk. That and the UMP was totally giving 2" off the outside tonight. WHen that happens we gotta look to go the other way more.
