    Re: MLB Off-Topic

After Brandon Crawford was snubbed from GG's for his fantastic years and then when he suddenly gets it during a subpar defensive year where he explodes offensively, I've sealed the idea that it was really mostly just a popularity contest.

Some players are just voted because they won in the past, or so it seems. "Hey, he was once a Gold Glover. Let's vote him again."

I'm not saying it's a dreadful reward, I'm just saying I don't follow it like I used to.

This year it has nothing to do with offensive stats; they are basing it only on defensive metrics (I don't know which ones, but I think it's DRS from BIS) since teams weren't seen by all teams due to schedule this year. The finalists were literally spit out of a computer.

Whoops, I should've quoted the portions where somebody was talking about when managers and such voted. That's what I was alluding to. When it's like that, it's not good. It should take metrics into consideration to get nominated for sure.

The numbers show that shifting against right-handed hitters has been a risky proposition, yet teams are doing it at record rates. Will it come back to haunt the shift-heavy Dodgers and Rays?

With the #WorldSeries2020 coming to a close, COVID numbers on the rise, @MLB commissioner Rob Manfred admits that next season is not looking good. https://t.co/36Fxhpih2X

Commissioner Manfred says the 30 clubs have amassed $8.3 billion of debt and will post up to $3 billion in operational losses. Meanwhile, MLB and MLBPA will try to negotiate a new CBA, as the current one expires on Dec. 1, 2021. A terrible time to be negotiating a new labor deal. https://t.co/rBK3CjNhrz

Justin Turner tested positive, that’s why he was taken out tonight.

Shouldn't have been in the Line-up if there was a concern. When did they get the results? Very weird

In the second inning tonight, the lab doing COVID tests informed MLB that Justin Turner’s test from yesterday came back inconclusive. The samples from today had just arrived and were run. It showed up positive. The league immediately called the Dodgers and said to pull Turner.

Not gonna blame the lab on this. There should have been a rule that if results werent in, or inconclusive then your not in the line-up or if too many inconclusive tests, reschedule the game.

Unclear as to whether they’ll stay in Dallas area before traveling back to Los Angeles. Situation fluid right now.
