Not to say being the all-time HR king or single-season HR mark for the Yankees would be anything to scoff at.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I wonder why baseball players don't wear face masks? I imagine that surely one could be developed for baseball that would be unintrusive for hitters. Most players start utilizing the flap because of Giancarlo Stanton's HBP a couple of years back but looking at Pillar's HBP, that's not covering but a part of the face.

Best I could think of would be maybe a modified version of an umpire's mask, or a hockey goalie/baseball catcher mask, but have it shaped more like a baseball helmet?
And the face shield part is removable so when guys get on base, they just take it off the same as they do with some of their other gear when they reach base.Last edited by Majingir; 05-19-2021, 02:42 PM.Comment

But as a whole, I do feel like networks need to do a better job.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't care as much about what someone is saying, I care about the voice that's saying it.
I could listen to a commentator with a great voice just talking about the chalk lines on the field or something. Someone with a generic sounding voice could go on about analytics, some backstory in a players career and so on, and its just background noise at times.
If I was in charge of hiring a commentary crew, I'm doing so first by just the ear test. Don't view names, or see who they are. Just hear some audio samples of those people to get a feel for what I want to hear.Comment

For this season, many aren't even there, so it's harder to call when you're sitting in a quiet room by yourself, staring at a screen the whole time.

Anyway, any announcer that says they support the NL DH, extra innings rule, and 7-inning doubleheaders gets lowered a bit in my book. Re: MLB Off-Topic
The Pirates have some good commentators. Greg Brown is one of the best play-by-play guys in the business. Great voice, eloquent, doesn't talk too much. Bob Walk is a great color guy; droll sense of humor and doesn't talk like a lot of former players. None of that inane "this guy comes to play every time he steps onto the diamond" sort of nonsense.
Chairs have been known to give Bob some trouble, however:
