I have zero issues with a player looking at the catcher to get tipped off what it is coming. If you scout it right and see his tendency, you can easily work that against him.

The batter looking at the catcher or the runner on 2nd tipping you is all fine with me.

Yes, and most catchers will peek at the hitter to make sure they’re not peeking at the signs. It’s all part of the game.

If this is what he was asking (because I honestly couldn't tell), I'm totally fine with it. Anything that's on the field is legit, yet also prone to a plunking if caught haha.

And players do this all the time. Any time they're up to bat with shades, don't think they're not trying to sneak a peek.

It's the electronic stuff that Houston was doing that is a big no-no for me.

Thoughts on the Pioneer League an independent league deciding extra innings games with a home run derby?

I understand they are trying to innovate the game for a younger audience and pace of play but come on.

Awful idea. Extra innings is free baseball and should be celebrated.

I'd be in favor of it ... but only pitchers are allowed to hit.

I’d rather make the outfielders catch all fly balls with their hat in extra innings or the out doesn’t count

It's even more stupid than the shootout in hockey. Like the shootout, it will be a novelty for a short while and then lose it's luster permanently and look like a ludicrous way to decide a game. I hate the damn shootout more than anything wrong with baseball but, if this became a thing, I'd hate this more than the shootout.

I'd advocate for ties long before I'd back these sorts of silly proceedings.

Bauer seemed to be okay with it.

If you see him sneaking a peek again, set up outside and try to paint the black on the inside. Good way to counter it.

At least no major pro league has an overtime with a gimmick like that....wait, nevermind.

This is the baseball equivalent of having a shootout deciding games like we see in hockey and soccer.

Apparently, back in May 2012, the Red Sox had a deal somewhat agreed to with the Mets that would've sent catcher Kelly Shoppach to the Mets. It was a little lopsided in the Mets' favor though because the main piece Boston would be getting in return was a 23-year old pitcher fresh off of Tommy John surgery that missed all of the 2011 season, kid by the name of Jacob deGrom.

Anyways, the guys in charge of the Minors told Sandy Alderson to rethink trading deGrom because they liked what they saw, and the Sox ended up getting Pedro Beato.
