Lots of contracts and players are responsible for the trend of not offering long term contracts for players on the "wrong side" of 30 but Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera were the final nails in the coffin.

When Pujols retires, he's for sure going in to the HOF with the Cards right?

Maybe he'll pull a JT Snow.

Snow signed a one-day contract with the Giants, went out there in the top of the 1st inning as a first baseman and tossed around pre-inning grounders, then got subbed out. Retired as a Giant.

Players don't choose anymore, right? There is no way he goes in as an Angel.

Something I just thought of as I saw an Angels highlight on mlb.tv, why hasn’t Mike Scioscia resurfaced as a manager anywhere? He had a pretty good run with the Angels

I was reading a comment online which gives off a "I've never thought of it before, but now that I think of it, it's bound to happen" vibe.

We know theres ads everywhere already, and networks are adding in their own digital ads already on the field.

But...how long before we get actual field ads? Like grass cut ads, not just a painted on thing or anything like that.

People here won't be familiar with it, but Toronto had grass ads along the highway on the way towards downtown/Rogers Centre. It actually looks cool.

I hope someone picks up Pujols the problem is where.

Cardinals don't need him, Tony La russa said they don't have room for him on the White Sox either. His stats also don't help.

Random fun fact, Pujols is/was the last active player to have played with or against Bobby Bonilla.

Also found an interesting "degrees of seperation" fact.

Ohtani I'd imagine would be the old guy in the future that's part of this long list. Don't worry, it's worth the read.

In his first season Shohei Ohtani was a teammate of Albert Pujols who in his first season was a teammate of Mark McGwire who in his first season was a teammate of Dusty Baker who in his first season was a teammate of Hank Aaron who in his first season was a teammate of Andy Pafko who in his first season was a teammate of Lon Warneke who in his first season was a teammate of Rogers Hornsby who in his first season was a teammate of Red Ames who in his first season was a teammate of George Van Haltren who in his first season was a teammate of Cap Anson who was in the first season of baseball in 1871.

Which links every season of MLB together using only guys who were teammates for at least one of those guys first season.

                    So, A's to Vegas?

BREAKING: The Oakland A's will start exploring relocation possibilities after Major League Baseball suggested the organization consider moving to other cities if the Howard Terminal stadium proposal is not approved by local politicians.

The A's, who have played in Oakland since 1968, will look into relocating elsewhere after years of failed plans for a new stadium. The team has asked the city council to vote on a new Howard Terminal site prior to its late-July recess.

What a move that would be in terms of market size. Going from a market size of 2.5 to 3.0 million to one that is smaller than any other MLB city at less than 750k.

The LV metro area is over 2.7m last I read.

Just a leverage move by the MLB, not the first time they’ve told the A’s to start exploring other markets.

Agree. I haven't kept up with the politics in Oakland, but it's amazing they haven't hashed out the A's stadium in the years since the Raiders announced their departure.

Raiders got a good deal in Vegas (but we were also in a unique position to create this deal - we raised a tax .8% to 13.35%) and the appetite to do another one like that is politically toxic. For it to happen here someone's gotta step up and create the opportunity with their pocketbook.

Anything that prevents the A's from just shrugging off another stadium plan falling through and kicking the can down the road for another decade.

                                Vegas or Montreal?

And can the league do the same for the Rays too? Get a deal by X date or they're gone. No split season 2027 nonsense they've proposed to buy time.
