My goodness, I actually remember that. Those were still the days when we would have to manually update our baseball video game rosters if we felt the need, and my friend and I prematurely did that move thinking it would happen or just seeing what it would be like, and we played a versus exhibition game with those two teams.

Not that I care who makes a team appointed Hall of Fame, but the bar must be set awfully low if those guys are being inducted.

Gregg Zaun fired from his broadcast position with the Jays for same reason so many are getting fired recently. Including his time as a player, I believe he's basically been part of jays family for all but maybe 2 years since 2004.

Yep, honestly it's very disappointing but not terribly surprising given the style he exhibits.

"sigh" Just as long as the Jays don't insert Mr. Hazel Mae as Zaun's replacement i'll be okay with it.

That reason being sexual misconduct, and is always worth mentioning.

Interesting read on Altuve v. Judge and the interpretation of WAR

Over the past five years, WAR has caught on with the baseball-watching public in a way that no other sabermetric stat has. But as the recent debate about the MVP race between Aaron Judge and José Altuve revealed, we can’t fully move forward with the stat until we agree on what it’s meant to do.

WAR and other advanced stats are supposed to show production in a vacuum, Bill James tried to get his idea off years ago as win shares. It didn't work. I don't mind the idea of taking out some of the theory and contextualizing the actual production for the purpose of determining awards. I think the angle Bill James is taking is bad. If you don't like WAR as a metric, don't just try to change WAR. It serves a different purpose than what he's trying to do.

Like the Baseball Prospectus article said, it's extremely odd to see the guy who created a stat that tries to neutralize true outcomes and find expected value (Pythagorean wins) now trying to say that expected value doesn't matter and only what actually happened matters.

I think also the Red Sox have what he believes is a more advanced WAR. He can't share it with us though.

Just saw Matt Yallof on MLB Network...not sure how long he's been back but he had a stroke last year. Glad he's doing better.

Yeah, I saw him on the network a week or so ago I think? He looks pretty good all things considered. It's great that MLB-N kept him around after his health scare.

News coming out that Rogers(owners of Jays) are considering selling the team. This about a month after rumors of them selling naming rights to their stadium.

Don't know who'd buy them. How many owners in Canada can afford a billion dollar price tag? At most, could see them selling to mlse(owners of Leafs, Raptors, TFC). Rogers owns part of MLSE, but this could help get money back while still owning team.

If Bell gets involved, that'd hurt one scenario of Expos getting a team back.
