And while I can enjoy discussing the minutiae of bWAR, lets not get it twisted, Bard "beat" (you could consider the difference negligible) Diaz by 0.2 in bWAR while Diaz beat Bard in fWAR 3.0 to 1.8 and 2.4 to 1.4 in WARP (Baseball Prospectus).

I conceded the difference wasn't very big in the beginning. I don't think the discussion is honestly worth continuing. We're comparing a strikeout pitcher with a ground ball pitcher. I think most would agree babip & GB/FB is more important for one than the other. If we can't agree there, then we should just agree to disagree and move on. A sinker ball pitcher trying to get ground balls and succeeding in doing that, is a relevant stat in my eyes.

If we were dealing with 2 same style pitchers, I wouldn't have bothered to use the stat, but I feel and I think most would, it's relevant for a ground ball pitcher in Coors field. Especially when babip and xbabip are close enough to not be "luck".

Also hard hits/line drives are counted as fly balls in GB/FB ratio if I'm not mistaken. Hence the relevance.

I don't mind continuing the conversation in private if you want to get nerdy with numbers, I just didn't think these guys wanted to sit through a super deep dive into their advanced stats season.

Am I the only one who feels, he makes more money in the long run, regardless of the difference in offers this offseason if he stays a Yankee? Maybe it's the collector in me, maybe it's just the old school baseball fan. I just think his long term earnings potential is higher with his statue in monument park as the HR leader, then breaking the record and taking a higher deal this offseason and going somewhere else.
I dunno what the tax code for NY looks like but from what I've heard about California, he'd do well to avoid San Fran

but yeah, I'd tend to think playing in NYC would be more lucrative for anyone,
especially as opposed to playing in somewhere like, say, Milwaukee, or Minneapolis.

Yeah I mean a FA can go to Tx or FL and get their salary tax free, so their short term earnings would be way higher, I mean more from a legacy and endorsements after playing type of thing. Being an all time great Yankee and staying seems it would be worth more, even if he ends up with a barely HOFer career, the hr record as a career Yankee would mean a lot IMO.

The brawl in the Venezuelan league/

            Wow.

At one point, in the middle of a scrum, a player hurls a baseball that hits a player on the opposite team directly in the head. That's insane.

Those leagues are wild. Brawls seemingly every week. And they're legit brawls, not like what we see in the majors

Something was thinking about today, what is the most heartbreaking loss you’ve witnessed? For me it was the Mets losing game 7 to the Cardinals in the 06 NLCS. They dominated the NL that year and after a back and forth series it comes down to Jeff Suppan vs Oliver Perez, who was a throw in to the Roberto Hernandez trade after Duaner Sanchez got injured in a 3am cab accident, now he’s starting the biggest game of the season. After the Endy Chavez catch I though there is no way they’re losing. Down by two after a Molina HR, in the 9th the Mets load the bases and Adam Wainwright proceeds to rip my heart out with the curveball to Beltran. The World Series losses to the Yankees and Royals never bothered me because the series got out of hand so quickly, and the 07 and 08 collapses I could see coming. 06 seemed like their year, I never would have imagined it would be that group’s only trip to the post season

92 NLCS Francisco Cabrera Single to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th sending the Braves to the WS.

So glad I'm a Braves fan, but that had to be crushing for Pirate fans considering Sid Bream is still running.

1991 Game 7. I’m still pissed at Lonnie Smith.

The 93 NLCS loss to the Phillies is right up there too. That may have been the best Braves team of the whole run.
